Finisar compatible FTL4C1QE2L Description

EdgeOptic's FTL4C1QE2L compatible is a Finisar (now part of Coherent) coded version of the EdgeOptic 40G-QSFP-10 multi-vendor 40GBASE-LR4 transceiver. The QE2L is the second-generation Lite-temperature member of the line: an Ethernet-only 40GBASE-LR4 QSFP+ optic graded for the controlled thermal conditions typical of data-center cabinets.

Four uncooled DFB lasers transmit on CWDM wavelengths of 1271, 1291, 1311 and 1331 nm, combined onto one duplex single-mode pair through an LC/UPC connector for distances up to 10 km. PIN photodiode receivers recover the lanes with sensitivity of −12.6 dBm per lane and overload at +3 dBm. Per-lane launch power runs between −6 and +3 dBm, giving an average link budget of 6.6 dB. The aggregate rate is 41.25 Gb/s NRZ to IEEE 802.3ba Clause 87 for 40GBASE-LR4.

The L suffix on the QE2L marks the OEM Lite temperature grade, documented at a 15 to 60 °C case range, narrower than the commercial QE2C. The EdgeOptic compatible is built to the universal commercial 0 to 70 °C range, which spans the Lite deployment window, so it drops into QE2L sockets without giving up thermal headroom. This is an Ethernet-only module: it does not carry the OTU3 transport rates of the multirate FTL4C1QM series. It follows the QSFP+ MSA and SFF-8436 and reports diagnostics over the standard DOM/DDM I2C interface.

The module works with switches and routers that accept 40GBASE-LR4 QSFP+ optics; verify the exact part against the platform's transceiver compatibility table before deployment. Backed by 15+ years of EdgeOptic compatibility engineering across vendor optical platforms, the module ships next business day from EU stock with a lifetime warranty. Frequently Asked Questions

How does the FTL4C1QE2L differ from the FTL4C1QE2C?

The two share the same 40GBASE-LR4 10 km QSFP+ optics; the difference is the OEM temperature grade. The QE2L is the Lite variant, documented at a 15 to 60 °C case range for controlled environments, while the QE2C is the commercial 0 to 70 °C build. EdgeOptic's compatible is built to the wider commercial 0 to 70 °C range, so it covers the QE2L deployment window. Match each end of the link to the same 40GBASE-LR4 specification during commissioning.
