Finisar compatible FTL4C1QE3C Description
EdgeOptic's FTL4C1QE3C compatible is a Finisar (now part of Coherent) coded version of the EdgeOptic 40G-QSFP-10 multi-vendor 40GBASE-LR4 transceiver. The QE3C is the third-generation commercial-temperature member of the line, an Ethernet-only 40GBASE-LR4 QSFP+ optic and the most current commercial-temperature revision in this Finisar line.
The transmit side uses four uncooled DFB lasers on CWDM wavelengths of 1271, 1291, 1311 and 1331 nm, multiplexed onto a single duplex single-mode pair over an LC/UPC connector for reach up to 10 km. PIN photodiode receivers recover the four lanes at −12.6 dBm sensitivity per lane, with overload at +3 dBm. Per-lane launch power sits between −6 and +3 dBm, for an average link budget of 6.6 dB. The module signals at 41.25 Gb/s NRZ aggregate, conforming to IEEE 802.3ba Clause 87 for 40GBASE-LR4.
Gen3 denotes a later hardware revision of the same 40GBASE-LR4 design; the optical and electrical specification is unchanged. This is an Ethernet-only part and does not carry the OTU3 transport rates of the multirate FTL4C1QM series. It operates across the commercial 0 to 70 °C case temperature range, follows the QSFP+ MSA and SFF-8436, and reports diagnostics through the standard DOM/DDM I2C memory map.
