Finisar compatible FTL4C1QE3L Description
EdgeOptic's FTL4C1QE3L compatible is a Finisar (now part of Coherent) coded version of the EdgeOptic 40G-QSFP-10 multi-vendor 40GBASE-LR4 transceiver. The QE3L is the third-generation Lite-grade member of the line, an Ethernet-only 40GBASE-LR4 QSFP+ optic intended for controlled data-center environments.
Four uncooled DFB lasers transmit on CWDM wavelengths of 1271, 1291, 1311 and 1331 nm, combined onto a single duplex single-mode pair through an LC/UPC connector for distances up to 10 km. PIN photodiode receivers recover the lanes at −12.6 dBm sensitivity per lane, with overload at +3 dBm. Per-lane launch power runs between −6 and +3 dBm, giving an average link budget of 6.6 dB. The aggregate rate is 41.25 Gb/s NRZ to IEEE 802.3ba Clause 87 for 40GBASE-LR4.
The L suffix in the QE3L ordering code indicates a Lite-grade temperature variant, with an operating range narrower than the commercial QE3C; verify the exact Lite operating range against the Coherent/Finisar FTL4C1QE3L datasheet before deployment in temperature-sensitive locations. The EdgeOptic compatible is built to the universal commercial 0 to 70 °C range. This is an Ethernet-only module and does not carry the OTU3 transport rates of the multirate FTL4C1QM series. It follows the QSFP+ MSA and SFF-8436 and reports diagnostics over the standard DOM/DDM I2C interface.
The module works with switches and routers that accept 40GBASE-LR4 QSFP+ optics; verify the exact part against the platform's transceiver compatibility table before deployment. Backed by 15+ years of EdgeOptic compatibility engineering across vendor optical platforms, the module ships next business day from EU stock with a lifetime warranty. Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between the FTL4C1QE3L and FTL4C1QE3C?
Both are third-generation 40GBASE-LR4 10 km QSFP+ optics; the distinction is the OEM temperature grade. The L suffix indicates a Lite-grade variant with a narrower temperature window than the commercial QE3C; verify the exact range in the Coherent/Finisar FTL4C1QE3L datasheet before deployment in temperature-sensitive locations. EdgeOptic's compatible is built to the commercial 0 to 70 °C range, so it covers the Lite deployment window. Match both ends of the link to the same 40GBASE-LR4 specification during commissioning.
