The 8538 prefix places this module in the single-rate 25G line of the Finisar P-series - it runs at 25.78125 Gbps and does not negotiate a 10G fallback. Buyers crossing from an FTLF8536 dual-rate deployment should note the distinction: the 8538 requires the host port to be configured for 25G natively.
