Fortinet compatible FG-TRAN-QSFP+LR Description

EdgeOptic's FG-TRAN-QSFP+LR compatible is a Fortinet-coded version of the EdgeOptic 40G-QSFP-10 multi-vendor 40GBASE-LR4 transceiver. It is coded with Fortinet-recognized EEPROM so the optic identifies correctly in FortiGate firewall platforms with 40GBASE-LR4 QSFP+ interfaces. Verify the part against your FortiGate transceiver compatibility guide before deployment.

The module is a QSFP+ 40GBASE-LR4 optic that runs 40 Gigabit Ethernet to 10 km over duplex single-mode fiber on a double LC/UPC connector. Four DFB lasers multiplex CWDM lanes at 1271, 1291, 1311 and 1331 nm, received on a PIN photodiode. Per-lane launch power is −6 to +3 dBm, receiver sensitivity is −12.6 dBm, and RX overload is +3 dBm, for an average link budget of 6.6 dB. It operates from 0 to 70 °C.

It complies with IEEE 802.3ba Clause 87 for 40GBASE-LR4 and the QSFP+ MSA (INF-8438i, SFF-8436), with DOM/DDM diagnostics for temperature, supply voltage, laser bias, and optical TX/RX power. This is an Ethernet optic for FortiGate firewall links; it does not carry OTN or SONET/SDH rates.

Backed by 15+ years of EdgeOptic compatibility engineering across vendor optical platforms. Ships next business day from EU stock with a lifetime warranty. For volume pricing or deployment questions, contact our sales team.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between FG-TRAN-QSFP+LR and FN-TRAN-QSFP+LR?

Both ordering codes describe a 40GBASE-LR4 QSFP+ transceiver with the same optical specification: 10 km, single-mode fiber, duplex LC, 1271 to 1331 nm CWDM4, DOM. EdgeOptic's compatible matches that specification and is coded to work under either ordering code; verify which code your Fortinet platform expects.
