Fortinet compatible FN-TRAN-LX Description

EdgeOptic's FN-TRAN-LX compatible is a Fortinet-coded version of the EdgeOptic 1.25G-SFP-10DI multi-vendor 1000BASE-LX SFP transceiver. It uses an FP laser transmitter and a PIN photodiode receiver over duplex single-mode fiber with LC/UPC connectors, reaching 10 km at a nominal 1310nm wavelength across the 1260 to 1360nm band. As an SFP form factor module built to the SFP MSA, it is hot-swappable into open Fortinet SFP/SFP+ cages without extra hardware.

The supported data rate spans 1.063 to 1.25 Gbps, covering Gigabit Ethernet (1.25 Gbps) and 1G Fiber Channel (1.0625 Gbps) applications. Minimum transmit power is -9 dBm and maximum transmit power is 3 dBm, with a receiver sensitivity of -22 dBm and receiver overload at -3 dBm, for an average link budget of 13 dB. Chromatic dispersion tolerance is rated 70 to 100 ps/nm. Digital diagnostic monitoring follows SFF-8472, reporting temperature, supply voltage, bias current, and Tx/Rx power in real time without extra test equipment.

The module is coded to interoperate with Fortinet SFP/SFP+ ports and passes traffic once installed. As a non-certified third-party optic, it can trigger a GUI warning in FortiGate firmware, consistent with Fortinet's own documentation on transceivers not certified by Fortinet.

Operating temperature is rated to the Industrial range, -45C to +85C, on a single +3.3V power supply. The module meets the SFP MSA and INF-8074i mechanical and electrical specifications, Class 1 laser safety under FDA regulations and IEC 60825-1, and RoHS and CE requirements.

Backed by 15+ years of EdgeOptic compatibility engineering across vendor optical platforms. Ships next business day from EU stock with a lifetime warranty. For project quantity pricing or an alternative vendor coding, contact our sales team.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is FG-TRAN-LX the same module as FN-TRAN-LX?

The FG-TRAN and FN-TRAN transceiver families are listed with the same description and supported parameters across Fortinet's FortiGate 300D and 200F datasheets, which is why FG-TRAN-LX and FN-TRAN-LX both refer to the same 1000BASE-LX SFP module under different Fortinet ordering prefixes. Confirm the exact ordering code against the transceiver table for your specific FortiGate or FortiSwitch model before ordering.

Will FortiGate show a warning for a non-certified transceiver like this compatible?

Fortinet firmware checks installed optics against its own certified-transceiver list. A module that is not on that list, including this compatible, triggers a GUI notice rather than blocking the link. Fortinet's own technical documentation states that non-certified transceivers can typically establish a link and pass traffic; Fortinet TAC may still request a certified module before continuing a support case.

What Fortinet platforms is FN-TRAN-LX intended for?

Fortinet's transceiver documentation lists FN-TRAN-LX as a 1 GE SFP module for Fortinet systems with open SFP/SFP+ slots, rather than a single chassis. Check the SFP/SFP+ slot count and supported-transceiver table for your specific FortiGate or FortiSwitch model in Fortinet's compatibility documentation before ordering.
