EdgeOptic's FN-TRAN-SFP28-SR compatible is a Fortinet-coded version of the EdgeOptic 25G-SFP28-100 multi-vendor 25GBASE-SR SFP28 transceiver. FN-TRAN is Fortinet's current transceiver SKU prefix; the earlier FortiGate-specific FG-TRAN and FortiSwitch-specific FS-TRAN families preceded it. The FN-TRAN-SFP28-SR is Fortinet's 25GE SFP28 short-reach module for FortiGate firewalls and FortiSwitch platforms with 25G SFP28 ports.

Optical specs: 850 nm VCSEL transmitter, PIN photodiode receiver, TX power −5 to +2.4 dBm, RX sensitivity better than −10.3 dBm, 5.3 dB link budget. Reach is 100 m on OM4, 100 m on OM5, and 70 m on OM3 with an LC/UPC duplex connector. The module is IEEE 802.3by Clause 112 compliant. RS-FEC per Clause 91 (RS(528,514)) is supported and enabled by the host port when 25GBASE-SR is negotiated.
