Fortinet compatible FN-TRAN-SFP+LR Description
The EdgeOptic 10G-SFP-10 is a compatible replacement for the Fortinet FN-TRAN-SFP+LR 10GBASE-LR SFP+ transceiver. It provides 10 Gigabit Ethernet over single-mode fiber at 1310nm, reaching up to 10km with a duplex LC connector. This module is EEPROM-coded for Fortinet platforms.
The transceiver operates at 10.3125 Gbps, supporting 10GBASE-LR (IEEE 802.3ae). It uses a 1310nm DFB laser transmitter paired with a PIN photodiode receiver, with a minimum link budget of 6dB over standard G.652 single-mode fiber.
This module is compatible with FortiGate firewalls and FortiSwitch models with SFP+ ports, including the FortiSwitch 124F, 148F, 548D, 3032E, and 3048E. FortiOS does not require CLI override commands to enable third-party SFP+ modules. The EdgeOptic compatible is coded with Fortinet EEPROM data to minimize compatibility warnings.
FN-TRAN-SFP+LR and FG-TRAN-SFP+LR carry identical optical specifications (1310nm, 10km, duplex LC). Fortinet rebranded the part number from the FG- to FN- prefix. The EdgeOptic module is coded to be recognized under both designations.
