EdgeOptic's FN-TRAN-SFP+ZR compatible is a Fortinet-coded version of the EdgeOptic 10G-SFP-80 multi-vendor 10GBASE-ZR transceiver. It carries Fortinet-recognized EEPROM so the module is identified by FortiOS on FortiGate appliances. This is the 1550nm 80km ZR build coded for the Fortinet ordering name FN-TRAN-SFP+ZR.
The module carries 10 Gigabit Ethernet over 80km of G.652 single-mode fiber through a duplex LC connector. An EML transmitter and APD receiver reach the full ZR distance. Transmit power runs from 0 to +5 dBm, receiver sensitivity is better than −24 dBm, and the 23 dB link budget covers the 80km span. Chromatic dispersion tolerance is 1600 ps/nm. Digital diagnostics report temperature, supply voltage, laser bias, transmit power, and received power so FortiOS can read live optical levels. The hot-pluggable SFP+ seats in a FortiGate 10G SFP+ cage and FortiOS reads its DDM telemetry for in-service monitoring. A single 1550nm wavelength over single-mode fiber suits firewall-to-firewall and data-center interconnect links that run past the 40km reach of an ER optic.
On spans shorter than about 40km, add an inline optical attenuator to keep received power below the overload threshold. The module runs over the standard 0 to 70 degree C temperature range on a 3.3V supply and meets SFF-8431, the SFP+ MSA, and Class 1 laser safety per IEC 60825-1, with CE and RoHS. 10GBASE-ZR is a de-facto MSA reach class derived from OC-192 and STM-64 transport, not an IEEE 802.3ae mode.
