HP compatible 455886-B21 Description

The EdgeOptic 10G-SFP-10 is a compatible replacement for the HPE 455886-B21 BladeSystem c-Class 10Gb SFP+ LR transceiver. It provides 10 Gigabit Ethernet over single-mode fiber at 1310nm, reaching up to 10km with a duplex LC connector. This module is HPE EEPROM coded for BladeSystem and ProLiant platforms.

The transceiver operates at 10.3125 Gbps, supporting 10GBASE-LR per IEEE 802.3ae. It uses a 1310nm DFB laser transmitter paired with a PIN photodiode receiver, with a minimum link budget of 6dB over standard G.652 single-mode fiber. Dual-rate operation at 1G Ethernet (1.25 Gbps) is also supported on ports that allow rate negotiation.

This module is compatible with HPE BladeSystem c7000 and c3000 enclosures with Virtual Connect Flex-10, Flex-10/10D, and FlexFabric interconnect modules. It also works in ProLiant servers equipped with 530SFP+, 560SFP+, or 562SFP+ network adapters and their FLR variants. Compatibility depends on the NIC chipset in standalone server configurations.

HPE uses three part numbers for this transceiver: 455886-B21 (option/ordering), 455888-001 (assembly), and 456097-001 (spare). All three refer to the same 10GBASE-LR SFP+ module. The J9151A is the HPE ProCurve/Aruba networking equivalent with the same optical specs but different EEPROM coding for Aruba switch platforms.

Digital Diagnostic Monitoring (DDM) is supported per SFF-8472. The module reports TX/RX optical power, temperature, laser bias current, and supply voltage in real time. CE/RoHS certified, commercial temperature range (0 to 70 °C).
