EdgeOptic's 841716-B21 compatible is an HPE-coded version of the EdgeOptic BIDI-40G-QSFP-150 multi-vendor 40 Gigabit Ethernet bidirectional QSFP+ transceiver. It runs over a standard duplex LC/UPC multimode fiber pair, with 850nm and 900nm lanes multiplexed bidirectionally across the two fibers so 40G fits on a duplex MMF connection instead of an MPO ribbon, using a VCSEL transmitter and PIN photodiode receiver at a 41.25 Gbps line rate with NRZ modulation. Reach is up to 150 meters over OM3, OM4 or OM5 multimode fiber, with a 2 dB average link budget and DDM/DOM support for real time optical monitoring. The host side electrical interface follows IEEE 802.3ba; the bidirectional dual wavelength optical scheme itself sits outside that standard and follows the QSFP+ MSA, SFF-8436 and INF-8438i.
