HP compatible JD118B Description

EdgeOptic's JD118B compatible is an HP-coded version of the EdgeOptic 1.25G-SFP-550D multi-vendor 1000BASE-SX transceiver. It carries the HP X120 1G SFP LC SX optical spec: an 850nm VCSEL transmitter, a PIN photodiode receiver, and a duplex LC interface over multimode fiber. The module runs dual-rate, covering 1000BASE-SX Gigabit Ethernet at 1.25 Gbps and 1G Fibre Channel short-wave at 1.0625 Gbps, in line with IEEE 802.3z and FC-PI.

The module holds a 7.5 dB optical budget, which supports 550m over OM2 (50/125) multimode fiber and 275m over OM1 (62.5/125) per the 1000BASE-SX specification. It operates from a +3.3V supply across a 0 to 70°C commercial temperature range and supports DDM/DOM digital diagnostics for live transmit power, receive power, temperature, and bias-current telemetry on the port.

The JD118B is the X120 part for HP and HPE H3C/Comware platforms, the Comware OS lineage rather than ProVision. It is not interchangeable at the EEPROM level with the J4858C, which serves ProVision/ArubaOS-Switch ProCurve switches. For Comware-based switches and routers, use the JD118B; for ProCurve switches, use the J4858C. EdgeOptic codes the module with HP-recognized EEPROM so it is accepted on Comware platforms without an unsupported-transceiver workaround.
