JL439A HPE Compatible X130 10GBASE-LR SFP+ Transceiver

JL439A is HPE’s current part number for the X130 10GBASE-LR SFP+ transceiver, assigned to H3C and Comware-based switching platforms. EdgeOptic’s compatible replacement is built on our 10G-SFP-10 platform and coded with the HPE vendor ID that Comware firmware expects during transceiver initialization. The module is a direct functional replacement for the original HPE optic.

The transceiver operates at 1310 nm (DFB laser) with a PIN photodiode receiver, supporting 10 Gbps over up to 10 km of G.652 single-mode fiber. Connector type is duplex LC/UPC. Compliance covers IEEE 802.3ae, SFF-8431, SFF-8432, and DDM per SFF-8472. The link budget accommodates the standard 6.3 dB maximum channel insertion loss. Commercial operating temperature range is 0°C to 70°C, and power consumption is below 1 W, consistent with standard SFP+ thermal and power envelopes.

A common point of confusion in HPE’s optics catalog is the relationship between JL439A and J9151E. Both are HPE 10GBASE-LR SFP+ modules with identical optical specifications, but they carry different EEPROM coding for different platform families. JL439A is intended for Comware/H3C platforms such as the 5945, 5980, and FlexNetwork 5130 HI series. J9151E targets Aruba/ProCurve AOS-Switch platforms including the 2930F, 3810M, and 5400R. Installing a J9151E in a Comware switch, or vice versa, may trigger an unsupported-transceiver log entry. EdgeOptic produces separate compatible SKUs for each part number to avoid cross-platform issues.

The JL439A also appears in FlexFabric 5710 and 5950 series deployments. HPE positions these switches for data center top-of-rack and campus aggregation roles, where 10G LR uplinks provide connectivity between buildings or wiring closets separated by more than the 300 m limit of short-reach multimode optics. In multi-site campus networks, the JL439A’s 10 km reach covers the majority of inter-building fiber runs without requiring intermediate amplification or media conversion. HPE’s Comware platform also includes the older A5800 and 5820 series, which used the JD094B part number for the same optical function. When migrating from A5800 to FlexFabric 5710, the JL439A is the correct replacement part number.

All EdgeOptic compatibles include DDM telemetry accessible through the Comware CLI (“display transceiver” or “display transceiver manuinfo”) and carry a lifetime warranty. The DDM parameters include Tx/Rx optical power, temperature, supply voltage, and laser bias current, following the SFF-8472 standard alarm and warning thresholds.
