HP compatible R1N47A Description

EdgeOptic's R1N47A compatible is an HPE-coded version of the EdgeOptic 100G-QSFP28-100 multi-vendor QSFP28 transceiver. One physical 100GBASE-SR4 design ships against the EEPROM coding required across the major server and switch vendors, including the HPE Composable / Synergy ordering channel. The module covers 100 Gb Ethernet over four parallel 25 Gb/s lanes on multi-mode fiber to the 100GBASE-SR4 specification.

R1N47A is the HPE ordering code for the HPE 100Gb QSFP28 MPO SR4 100 m Transceiver, used on HPE Composable infrastructure platforms including HPE Synergy compute fabric uplinks. Engineers may also encounter the legacy HPE part number 845966-B21 in earlier bills of materials referring to a 100GBASE-SR4 QSFP28 optic in the same HPE Composable portfolio; verify the active ordering code against HPE documentation for your target platform.

Optical specifications: 850 nm VCSEL transmitters across four lanes, RX sensitivity better than −10.3 dBm per lane, 1.9 dB average link budget, 100 m reach over OM4 and 70 m over OM3. The line side runs NRZ at an aggregate 103.125 Gb/s with no host FEC required for the SR4 PMD. MTP/MPO-12 UPC connector on the front panel; the transceiver port is female, so the patch cable presents the male pinned ferrule. Use a Type B polarity patch when bridging transceiver to transceiver. DDM/DOM monitoring reports transmit power, receive power and bias current per lane, plus module-level temperature and supply voltage.

Works on HPE Composable platforms with 100G QSFP28 interfaces, including the HPE Virtual Connect SE 100 Gb F32 Module for HPE Synergy compute frames. EdgeOptic codes the part to be recognized by HPE on platforms that accept the R1N47A ordering code. Verify the chassis line card and firmware release optical compatibility against HPE's documentation for the target platform before deployment.

Built to the QSFP28 MSA (SFF-8665) and the IEEE 802.3bm Clause 95 100GBASE-SR4 PMD. The module operates over the 0 to 70 °C commercial range at 3.5 W maximum and carries the standard CE / RoHS conformance. Backed by 15+ years of EdgeOptic compatibility engineering across vendor optical platforms. Ships next business day from EU stock with a lifetime warranty. Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between HPE R1N47A and 845966-B21?

Both are HPE ordering codes that appear in HPE documentation for the 100GBASE-SR4 QSFP28 optic on Composable / Synergy platforms. R1N47A is the HPE ordering reference used on Composable / Synergy platforms; 845966-B21 appears in legacy HPE bills of materials and documentation. Verify the active ordering code required for the target chassis and firmware release against HPE's product documentation.
