HP compatible R1N94A Description

EdgeOptic's R1N94A compatible is an HPE-coded 100GBASE-LR4 QSFP28 transceiver built on the EdgeOptic 100G-QSFP28-10 platform. R1N94A is HPE's ordering code for the HPE 100Gb QSFP28 LC LR 10km Transceiver, positioned under the HPE Composable Fabric product line. The EdgeOptic compatible carries HPE-recognized EEPROM identifiers so the host switch surfaces the expected R1N94A ordering code in CLI and management telemetry, and it ships with the same wavelength plan, electrical interface, and SFF-8636 management profile as the OEM module. The module slots into a standard QSFP28 cage and follows the same insertion, hot-swap, and DDM behavior as HPE's original part.

The optical interface follows IEEE 802.3ba Clause 88 100GBASE-LR4. Four 25.78 Gbps NRZ lanes ride the LAN WDM grid at 1295.56, 1300.05, 1304.58, and 1309.14 nm, then multiplex onto a single LC duplex pair of single-mode fiber. The 6.3 dB optical path loss budget supports a full 10 km reach on G.652 SMF. Host electrical interface is CAUI-4 per IEEE 802.3bm. Power dissipation stays at 3.5 W on a single 3.3 V supply, the operating temperature window is 0 to 70 C commercial, and the module reports DDM telemetry per SFF-8636 for tx power, rx power, bias current, supply voltage, and case temperature.

R1N94A belongs to the HPE Composable Fabric product line, which uses QSFP28 ports on FM-series switching infrastructure. It is not part of the HPE Aruba CX switching family, where transceivers are ordered under JL-series part numbers such as JL275A and JL310A.
