HP compatible R9J30A Description
The EDGE 400G-QSFP-DD-2.1 is a direct replacement for the HPE Aruba R9J30A, coded with HPE-recognized EEPROM data. AOS-CX accepts it on supported platforms. Same duplex LC connector, same 2km single-mode reach, same 400GBASE-FR4 optical specs.
The module transmits on four CWDM wavelengths (1271, 1291, 1311, 1331nm) using PAM4 modulation at 53.125 GBaud per lane for a 400 Gb/s aggregate data rate. An internal DSP performs gearbox adaptation between the electrical host interface and the four optical lanes. Rated for a 4dB maximum optical link budget, supporting 2km over OS2 single-mode fiber. Operating temperature 0 to 70°C.
R9J30A is used on HPE Aruba Networking switches with QSFP-DD ports: CX 10000 series and CX 9300 series. Check the HPE Aruba transceiver compatibility guide for your platform and AOS-CX release.
HPE lists this module as the "X1E0 400G QSFP-DD FR4-WDM1300 2km LC Transceiver" with ordering code R9J30A. The X1E0 prefix is HPE's transceiver product line. If your purchase order or spares inventory references R9J30A, this is the correct EDGE replacement.
The module conforms to IEEE 802.3cu for the 400GBASE-FR4 optical interface. Diagnostic monitoring via CMIS provides real-time per-channel transmit and receive power, temperature, voltage, and bias current through AOS-CX CLI or your NMS.

Frequently Asked Questions
Which HPE Aruba platforms support the R9J30A?
R9J30A is used on HPE Aruba Networking switches with QSFP-DD ports, including the CX 10000 series and CX 9300 series. The EDGE module is coded with HPE-recognized EEPROM data. Check the HPE Aruba transceiver compatibility guide for your specific platform and AOS-CX release.
What is the HPE naming for this module?
HPE lists this as the "X1E0 400G QSFP-DD FR4-WDM1300 2km LC Transceiver" with ordering part number R9J30A. The X1E0 prefix is HPE's transceiver product line designation. If your purchase order references R9J30A, this is the correct EDGE replacement.
Does R9J30A use LC or MPO connectors?
R9J30A uses a duplex LC connector with four CWDM wavelengths (1271-1331nm) multiplexed onto a single fiber pair. This is the FR4 (WDM) variant, not the parallel-fiber DR4+ variant which uses MPO-12. If your cabling uses duplex LC patch cords, R9J30A is the correct module.
