IBM compatible 00D6183 Description
EdgeOptic's 00D6183 compatible is an IBM-coded, Fibre-Channel-ready version of the EdgeOptic 10G-SFP-10 multi-vendor 10GBASE-LR transceiver. 00D6183 is IBM's longwave Fibre Channel SFP+ ordering code, and it supports 8G Fibre Channel (8.5 Gbps) at 1310 nm over single-mode fiber to 10 km. The EdgeOptic module carries that same 1310 nm single-mode optical path and meets the SFP+ MSA (SFF-8431, SFF-8432). EdgeOptic codes the EEPROM for IBM host recognition, so the module works on IBM SAN platforms that list 00D6183.
Transmission runs at 1310 nm across duplex single-mode fiber on an LC interface, with a 6 dB link budget across the 10 km reach. Output from the DFB laser sits between −8.2 and 0.5 dBm; the PIN photodiode receiver works from −14.5 dBm sensitivity up to 0 dBm overload.
