IBM compatible 00D6183 Description

EdgeOptic's 00D6183 compatible is an IBM-coded, Fibre-Channel-ready version of the EdgeOptic 10G-SFP-10 multi-vendor 10GBASE-LR transceiver. 00D6183 is IBM's longwave Fibre Channel SFP+ ordering code, and it supports 8G Fibre Channel (8.5 Gbps) at 1310 nm over single-mode fiber to 10 km. The EdgeOptic module carries that same 1310 nm single-mode optical path and meets the SFP+ MSA (SFF-8431, SFF-8432). EdgeOptic codes the EEPROM for IBM host recognition, so the module works on IBM SAN platforms that list 00D6183.

Transmission runs at 1310 nm across duplex single-mode fiber on an LC interface, with a 6 dB link budget across the 10 km reach. Output from the DFB laser sits between −8.2 and 0.5 dBm; the PIN photodiode receiver works from −14.5 dBm sensitivity up to 0 dBm overload. Digital diagnostics per SFF-8472 report optical power in both directions, module temperature, supply voltage, and laser bias current.

00D6183 addresses IBM 8G Fibre Channel (8.5 Gbps) longwave SAN links at 1310 nm over 10 km.
