IBM compatible 23R1702 Description

EdgeOptic's 23R1702 compatible is an IBM-coded, Fibre-Channel-ready version of the EdgeOptic 10G-SFP-10 multi-vendor 10GBASE-LR transceiver. 23R1702 is IBM's longwave Fibre Channel SFP+ part number, a single-rate module that supports 4G Fibre Channel (4.25 Gbps) at 1310 nm over 10 km single-mode fiber. The EdgeOptic module meets the SFP+ MSA (SFF-8431, SFF-8432) and carries the 1310 nm single-mode optical path. EdgeOptic programs the EEPROM for IBM host recognition, so the module works on IBM SAN platforms that list 23R1702.

The module transmits at 1310 nm over duplex single-mode fiber with an LC connector, reaching 10 km at a 6 dB link budget. A DFB laser holds launch power between −8.2 and 0.5 dBm, and the PIN photodiode receiver is rated at −14.5 dBm sensitivity with 0 dBm overload. DOM per SFF-8472 reports TX and RX power, temperature, supply voltage, and laser bias current in real time.

23R1702 addresses IBM 4G Fibre Channel (4.25 Gbps) longwave SAN links at 1310 nm over 10 km. The EdgeOptic module additionally covers 1, 2, 8 and 10G Fibre Channel, 10G Ethernet (10.31 Gbps), Gigabit Ethernet, and STM-64 (9.95 Gbps), with the active rate set by the host port. It runs from a single +3.3 V supply across a 0 to 70 °C range.
