IBM compatible 45W2283 Description
45W2283 is IBM's FRU part number for an 8Gb Fibre Channel long-wavelength SFP+ transceiver used in IBM System Storage SAN switch configurations. EdgeOptic's compatible replacement is built on our 10G-SFP-10 platform, a dual-rate FC module that supports both 4.25 Gbps (4GFC) and 8.5 Gbps (8GFC) line rates over single-mode fiber at 1310 nm.
IBM assigned the 45W2283 FRU to 8Gb FC SFP+ modules shipped with later-generation System Storage SAN switches. A closely related FRU, 45W1216, covers the same optical specification but appears on different IBM system configurations — specifically the SAN24B-4 and SAN40B-4. Both part numbers are interchangeable at the optical layer, but IBM's firmware may reference one FRU or the other depending on the chassis model and installed feature code. If a replacement order specifies 45W2283, use this module; if it specifies 45W1216, EdgeOptic offers that coding as well.
