EdgeOptic's TOM-100GMR-Q-LR4 compatible is an Infinera-coded multirate QSFP28 transceiver that supports both 100G Ethernet (100GBASE-LR4) and OTU4 / 112G transport, built on our 100G-QSFP28-10 hardware platform with Infinera-recognised EEPROM programmed at the factory. The MR designation is widely documented by third-party optical vendors as standing for multirate, distinguishing this SKU from the Ethernet-only TOM-100G-Q-LR4 sibling. The Infinera internal part numbers for this module are 130-0354-001 and 130-0354-002 (revision suffix). TOM = Tributary Optical Module in Infinera's hot-plug optics naming convention; Q = QSFP28 form factor; MR = Multirate.

The dual-rate capability is the entire reason this SKU exists alongside the non-MR variant. On Infinera transport platforms that present 100G client ports as either Ethernet or OTU4, TOM-100GMR-Q-LR4 covers both modes from a single optic. Selecting the Ethernet-only TOM-100G-Q-LR4 on a port that needs to run OTU4 will not work, and selecting TOM-100GMR-Q-LR4 on a port that only ever runs Ethernet over-specifies the optic. Match the BOM exactly to the configured port mode rather than substituting between MR and non-MR codes.

The 100GBASE-LR4 path conforms to IEEE 802.3ba Clause 88. A cooled EML transmitter array drives four LAN WDM channels at 1295.56, 1300.05, 1304.58 and 1309.14 nm, multiplexed onto one duplex LC single-mode fiber pair. PIN photodiode receivers recover the wavelengths at the far end. Each lane carries 25.78125 Gbps NRZ for the 100GbE rate (103.125 Gbps aggregate); the OTU4 path runs the same lanes at the OTU4 line rate of 111.81 Gbps. The minimum guaranteed optical budget is 6.3 dB, supporting 10 km on G.652 single-mode fiber. TX power is -4.3 to +4.5 dBm, RX sensitivity is -10.6 dBm, and module power draw is roughly 3.5 W. FEC is supported as enabled by the host platform.

QSFP28 MSA (SFF-8665) and SFF-8636 management compliance covers the electrical and software interfaces. DDM/DOM telemetry exposes per-lane TX and RX optical power, module temperature, supply voltage and laser bias current. The duplex LC connector accepts standard SMF patch cords, and the commercial 0 to 70 °C operating temperature range covers typical central-office and metro POP environments.
