Intel compatible E40GQSFPLR Description
EdgeOptic's E40GQSFPLR compatible is an Intel-coded version of the EdgeOptic 40G-QSFP-10 multi-vendor 40GBASE-LR4 transceiver. It is a QSFP+ module built to IEEE 802.3ba Clause 87, carrying 40 Gigabit Ethernet over four CWDM lanes at 1271, 1291, 1311 and 1331 nm, reaching 10 km over single-mode fiber through a duplex LC interface.
The DFB transmitter holds each lane between −6 and +3 dBm. A PIN photodiode receiver delivers −12.6 dBm per-lane sensitivity with a +3 dBm overload point, giving a 6.6 dB link budget across the full 10 km span. The module runs over the 0 to 70 °C commercial range with full DOM telemetry for live optical monitoring.
This compatible is coded for Intel Ethernet silicon such as the XL710 40G network adapter. EdgeOptic writes Intel-recognized EEPROM so the host accepts the optic as a qualified module. On some Intel XL710 NVM configurations, LR4 transceiver support must be explicitly enabled before the adapter brings up a 40GBASE-LR4 optic, so verify the NVM and firmware configuration against Intel's documentation before deployment. Confirm both ends of the link run matching 40GBASE-LR4 optics during commissioning.
Backed by 15+ years of EdgeOptic compatibility engineering across vendor optical platforms. Ships next business day from EU stock with a lifetime warranty.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does the Intel XL710 NIC support E40GQSFPLR out of the box, or is a firmware change needed?
On some Intel XL710 NVM configurations, LR4 transceiver support must be explicitly enabled before the adapter brings up a 40GBASE-LR4 optic. This is a behavior of the Intel NIC firmware, not the EdgeOptic optic, so check Intel's NVM configuration documentation for your adapter.
