Intel compatible SPTSLP2SLCDF Description

EdgeOptic's SPTSLP2SLCDF compatible is an Intel-coded version of the EdgeOptic 100G-QSFP28-SL500 multi-vendor 100GBASE-DR transceiver. SPTSLP2SLCDF is Intel's part number for a Silicon Photonics single-lambda 100G DR QSFP28. Intel transferred its pluggable optics business to Jabil in 2023 and no longer manufactures the part, so EdgeOptic's compatible is the in-production, coded alternative for this Intel OPN. It is built to IEEE 802.3cd 100GBASE-DR, the 100G Lambda MSA, and the QSFP28 MSA SFF-8665.

The module carries a single 100G PAM4 lane at 1310nm, within the 1304.5 to 1317.5nm band, over 500m of duplex single-mode fiber terminated on a duplex LC/UPC connector. The transmitter uses an EML laser; the receiver is a PIN photodiode. The host electrical interface is 4x 25G NRZ (CAUI-4), which the module maps to the single-lambda PAM4 optical signal. It runs at 106.25 Gbps for 100G Ethernet, with a 3 dB optical budget that covers the 500m reach. Operating temperature is the standard 0 to 70°C range, power draw is up to 4.5W, and DDM/DOM reports live optical diagnostics.

Forward error correction is handled inside the module. The RS(544,514) KP4 FEC runs on the module DSP on the optical side, so host-side FEC stays disabled for this single-lambda PAM4 link. Don't enable host FEC on the CAUI-4 interface, since the on-module FEC already protects the link and double-encoding corrupts it. As a QSFP28 form-factor module built to IEEE 802.3cd, it fits any switch or server with a 100G QSFP28 port that needs a 500m single-lambda DR hop.

Backed by 15+ years of EdgeOptic compatibility engineering across vendor optical platforms, the module is encoded for Intel platforms and supplied as a current-production drop-in for the SPTSLP2SLCDF. To confirm fit for your deployment, contact our sales team. It is made to order with a 2-week lead time and ships with a lifetime warranty.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Intel SPTSLP2SLCDF still available, or is it end-of-life?

Intel transferred its pluggable optics business to Jabil in 2023 and no longer manufactures the SPTSLP2SLCDF, though Intel-labeled units remain in circulation on the secondary market. EdgeOptic supplies a current-production, Intel-coded compatible as a drop-in replacement for the same 100GBASE-DR 500m application. contact our sales team to confirm the replacement for your deployment.
