Juniper compatible JNP-QSFP-100G-LR4 Description
JNP-QSFP-100G-LR4 is Juniper’s part number for a 100GBASE-LR4 QSFP28 optical transceiver, also referenced by Juniper’s internal part number 740-061409. Our compatible version uses the same base module as our 100G-QSFP28-10 product, built to MSA specifications with Juniper-specific EEPROM programming. It is functionally and optically equivalent to the Juniper original.
The module transmits 100GbE over single-mode fiber using LAN WDM technology. Four wavelength channels at 1295.56, 1300.05, 1304.58, and 1309.14 nm each carry 25.78125 Gbps with NRZ modulation, for an aggregate line rate of 103.125 Gbps. The transmitter uses an EML (Electro-absorption Modulated Laser) array and the receiver a PIN photodiode array. The four channels are multiplexed within the 1310 nm window and carried over a single duplex LC fiber pair.
The module provides a minimum optical link budget of 6.3 dB per IEEE 802.3ba, which supports distances up to 10 km over OS2 (G.652.D) single-mode fiber. Actual distance depends on your fiber attenuation and connector losses. The dual LC/UPC connector interface works with standard SMF patch cords and structured cabling.
Digital diagnostic monitoring (DDM/DOM) provides real-time readings of transmitted and received optical power, module temperature, laser bias current, and supply voltage through the SFF-8636 management interface. The module has no internal FEC engine, but is fully transparent to host-side RS-FEC (IEEE 802.3bj Clause 91) running in the switch ASIC. The module conforms to the QSFP28 MSA (SFF-8665) and presents a CAUI-4 host electrical interface (4x25G NRZ lanes per IEEE 802.3bj Clause 83). Operating temperature is 0 to 70°C with maximum power consumption of 3.5W.
Our module is programmed with Juniper-specific EEPROM data and has been compatibility-tested on Junos-based platforms including QFX5120, QFX5220, and MX304. It works in any Juniper device that lists JNP-QSFP-100G-LR4 in its supported transceiver table. Use show interfaces diagnostics optics in Junos to verify DDM readings after insertion. For PTX series and other platforms, verify support using Juniper’s Hardware Compatibility Tool (Pathfinder). We can also supply the module coded for other vendors; contact our sales team if you need alternative platform coding.
The transceiver meets IEEE 802.3ba and IEEE 802.3bm 100GBASE-LR4 requirements and conforms to the QSFP28 MSA (SFF-8665, IEEE 802.3ba 100GBASE-LR4). It is CE/RoHS certified and compliant with Class 1 FDA and IEC 60825-1 laser safety standards. We measure optical parameters and inspect connectors on every unit before shipment. EEPROM data is validated against the Juniper platform configuration. If you need technical consultation or a volume price for your project, contact our sales team.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is Juniper JNP-QSFP-100G-LR4 price?
Our Juniper JNP-QSFP-100G-LR4 compatible module is priced from €181.44 per unit. Volume discounts are available for project orders. The module ships from stock with typical lead time of 1-3 business days.
Which Juniper platforms support JNP-QSFP-100G-LR4?
JNP-QSFP-100G-LR4 is supported on Junos-based platforms including QFX5120, QFX5220, and MX304. Any Juniper device with QSFP28 ports that lists JNP-QSFP-100G-LR4 in its supported transceiver table can use this module. For PTX series and other platforms, use Juniper’s Hardware Compatibility Tool (Pathfinder) to verify support for your specific platform and Junos version.
Does the compatible JNP-QSFP-100G-LR4 require set chassis allow-other-transceivers on Junos?
No. Our module is programmed with Juniper-specific EEPROM coding, so it is recognized natively on Junos without the set chassis allow-other-transceivers command. Simply insert the module and it will be identified as JNP-QSFP-100G-LR4. Use show interfaces diagnostics optics to confirm the module is detected and DDM readings are available.
How do I check DDM readings for JNP-QSFP-100G-LR4 on Junos?
Use show interfaces diagnostics optics followed by the interface name to view DDM readings including Tx/Rx power, temperature, bias current, and voltage. For QSFP28 modules, Junos returns per-lane Tx and Rx power readings within the same command output.
What is 740-061409?
740-061409 is Juniper’s internal component part number for the JNP-QSFP-100G-LR4 transceiver. Both numbers refer to the same 100GBASE-LR4 QSFP28 module. Our compatible version is coded to match this part number in the EEPROM identification fields.
