Our EDGEOPTIC 10GFH-SFP-10 is a multi-vendor compatible 10G Fronthaul LR SFP+ dual-fiber optical module designed for mobile network infrastructure supporting CPRI and OBSAI protocol standards over extended distances. The 10GFH-SFP-10 module operates at 1310nm wavelength for both transmission and reception, with data rates from 1.228 to 10.138 Gbps covering the full range of fronthaul interface requirements. This transceiver provides reliable connectivity between baseband units and remote radio heads in 4G LTE and 5G network deployments requiring single-mode fiber transmission.

Our 10G Fronthaul LR SFP+ transceiver utilizes DFB (Distributed Feedback) laser technology for transmission and PIN photodiode for receiving. The module ensures a 6 dB guaranteed optical link budget, which determines the maximum transmission distance. Over single-mode fiber, the transceiver can reach distances up to 10 kilometers, making it suitable for metropolitan fronthaul deployments. However, distance is just an indicative parameter calculated for comfort of identification – eventually we calculate distance taking into account minimal optical budget and average attenuation of optical cabling in industry.

The 10GFH-SFP-10 supports comprehensive fronthaul protocol coverage including CPRI options 2 through 8, ranging from 1228.8 Mbps to 10.138 Gbps. Additionally, the module supports OBSAI RP3 configurations at 1.536 Gbps, 3.072 Gbps, and 6.144 Gbps rates. This multi-rate capability ensures compatibility with diverse radio access network architectures and equipment generations from major RAN vendors worldwide.

The 10GFH-SFP-10 compatible 10G Fronthaul LR module is a hot-pluggable SFP+ with duplex LC/UPC connectors as an optical interface. The electrical interface conforms to SFF-8431 MSA (Multi-Source Agreement) specifications, ensuring compatibility with standard SFP+ host systems supporting multiple vendor equipment platforms. Our 10G Fronthaul LR SFP+ transceiver can be encoded to be compatible and successfully operate in different baseband unit and remote radio head platforms across the telecommunications industry.

The module incorporates DDM/DOM (Digital Diagnostic Monitoring) functionality providing real-time information including transmitted and received optical power levels, module temperature, bias current, and supply voltage. This diagnostic data is available via MSA-compatible EEPROM interface and enables monitoring of transceiver operational parameters critical for maintaining fronthaul link integrity. The module operates within a 0 to 70°C temperature range, with appropriate thermal considerations for sustained operation in controlled equipment room environments.

Standards compliance includes SFF-8431 for mechanical and electrical specifications, along with Class 1 FDA and IEC60825-1 laser safety requirements. The transceiver achieves multi-vendor interoperability through adherence to industry MSA standards, though equipment with vendor-specific module validation may require custom EEPROM programming for compatibility.
