It carries the EEPROM identification a MikroTik RouterOS host expects, so it drops into SFP28 slots and reports through the host management interface like the original module. MikroTik markets the original XS+31LC10D as a combined 1.25G SFP, 10G SFP+ and 25G SFP28 module. The EdgeOptic compatible covers the 25G and 10G tiers of that envelope: it is a 25GBASE-LR SFP28 transceiver supporting 25G Ethernet at 25.78 Gbps and 10G Ethernet at 10.31 Gbps over 10 km of single-mode fiber. The 1.25G GigE SFP mode of the original module is outside the scope of this EdgeOptic compatible. Does the XS+31LC10D compatible work in an SFP+ port, or only in an SFP28 port?
It runs natively in an SFP28 port at 25G. When the XS+31LC10D family is used in a MikroTik SFP+ port for a 10G link, RouterOS needs sfp-rate-select set to low on that interface so the port drives the module at the correct rate.
