Netgear compatible AXM762 SFP+ Module

The EdgeOptic 10G-SFP-10 is a compatible replacement for the Netgear AXM762 (full SKU AXM762-10000S) 10GBASE-LR SFP+ transceiver. It provides 10 Gigabit Ethernet over single-mode fiber at 1310nm, reaching up to 10 km with a duplex LC connector. The module is coded with Netgear-recognized EEPROM data for ProSAFE managed switches.

The transceiver has a 1310nm DFB laser transmitter and PIN photodiode receiver. Line rate is 10.3125 Gbps with 64B/66B encoding per IEEE 802.3ae. It has a 6 dB guaranteed optical link budget over G.652 single-mode fiber. Dual-rate operation at 1G Ethernet (1.25 Gbps, 1000BASE-LX) is supported on compatible host ports; consult your Netgear switch documentation to confirm SFP+ rate-select support before deploying mixed-rate links. Operating temperature range is 0 to 70°C commercial.

The AXM762 is specified for Netgear ProSAFE managed switches with SFP+ slots, including the M5300, M7100, and M7300 series stackable managed switches for enterprise access and aggregation. Compact 10G desktop switches such as the XS505M and XS508M also accept the AXM762 in their SFP+ uplink port. Netgear uses the AXM76x series for 10G SFP+ optics: the AXM761 is the SR variant (850 nm VCSEL over multimode fiber, up to 300 m on OM3), the AXM762 is the LR variant (1310 nm DFB over single-mode fiber, up to 10 km), and the AXM763 is the LRM variant (1310 nm over OM2 multimode fiber up to 220 m per IEEE 802.3aq; OM1 reach is link-dependent). G.652 single-mode fiber has a maximum attenuation of 0.4 dB/km at 1310 nm per ITU-T G.652.D. Over a 10 km span, fiber loss consumes up to 4 dB of the 6 dB channel budget. Assuming two mated LC UPC connector pairs at 0.1 to 0.3 dB each and a few fusion splices at 0.1 dB per splice, roughly 1 to 1.4 dB of margin remains on a typical installed link. Inspect LC endfaces per IEC 61300-3-35 before mating.

DDM per SFF-8472 reports TX/RX optical power, laser bias current, temperature, and supply voltage. The module is MSA compliant per SFF-8431 (electrical) and IEEE 802.3ae (optical), with Class 1 laser safety per IEC 60825-1. CE and RoHS certified for commercial temperature range 0°C to 70°C. Power consumption is under 1 W.
