Nvidia compatible MMA1B00-E100 Description
EdgeOptic's MMA1B00-E100 compatible is a Nvidia-coded 100GBASE-SR4 version of the EdgeOptic 100G-QSFP28-100 multi-vendor QSFP28 transceiver, one universal short-reach module coded for a range of switch and adapter vendors. It carries 100G Ethernet over four parallel 850 nm VCSEL lanes at 25.78 Gbps each across multimode fiber, terminated on an MTP/MPO-12 (UPC) connector using 8 active fibers, 4 transmit and 4 receive. The transceiver port is female (unpinned); the patch cable is the pinned male side, so a transceiver-to-transceiver link uses a male-to-male Type B cable. Reach is 70 m over OM3 and 100 m over OM4, per IEEE 802.3bm Clause 95.
MMA1B00-E100 is the SKU Nvidia carried forward after its 2020 acquisition of Mellanox; the part number is unchanged from the Mellanox era, and EdgeOptic also lists it on a separate Mellanox-branded page. Optical specifications include a 1.9 dB average link budget, receiver sensitivity of −10.3 dBm per lane, NRZ modulation, and no FEC at this reach. The transmitter uses 850 nm VCSELs; the receiver is a PIN photodiode. DDM/DOM is supported per SFF-8636, reporting per-lane transmit power, receive power, and bias, plus module temperature and supply voltage. The module operates across the 0°C to 70°C commercial temperature range and complies with the QSFP28 MSA and SFF-8665.
MMA1B00-E100 is Nvidia's EDR InfiniBand-primary QSFP28 transceiver and is also IEEE 802.3 100GBASE-SR4 compliant, sharing the same 4x25.78 Gbps NRZ 850 nm MPO PMD as the Ethernet variant. This EdgeOptic compatible is coded for the 100GBASE-SR4 Ethernet application; EDR InfiniBand fabric use, such as InfiniBand host adapters or IB-mode fabric switches, is a separate coding option that our sales team can advise on before ordering. EdgeOptic codes this compatible with Nvidia-recognized EEPROM for the Ethernet application, so it is accepted on Nvidia Spectrum and Mellanox Ethernet switches and ConnectX adapter cards without a transceiver override. Confirm the specific model against the vendor compatibility matrix before deployment.
