Palo Alto Networks compatible PAN-SFP-SX Description

EdgeOptic's PAN-SFP-SX compatible is a Palo Alto Networks-coded version of the EdgeOptic 1.25G-SFP-550D multi-vendor 1000BASE-SX transceiver. It runs Gigabit Ethernet at 1.25 Gbps (IEEE 802.3z) and 1G Fibre Channel SW at 1.0625 Gbps over duplex multimode fiber, with an 850nm VCSEL transmitter and a PIN photodiode receiver.

With a 7.5 dB optical budget, the module reaches 550m over OM2 multimode fiber (50/125, 500 MHz·km) and 275m over OM1 (62.5/125). It uses a duplex LC/UPC interface and supports DDM/DOM diagnostics for live monitoring of optical power, bias current, and temperature. The module operates over the commercial 0 to 70°C range, built to the INF-8074i SFP MSA, +3.3V supply, CE/RoHS, Class 1 laser safety.

PAN-SFP-SX is the Palo Alto Networks commercial ordering code for this 1G SX SFP. EdgeOptic codes the EEPROM with Palo-Alto-recognized data so the module identifies correctly on PA-series firewalls with 1G SFP ports. Palo Alto Networks documents its own supported transceiver policy; verify your platform's transceiver list in Palo Alto Networks documentation before ordering. A separate TAA ordering code, PAN-T-S-SX, exists for buyers who need it.

Backed by 15+ years of EdgeOptic compatibility engineering across vendor optical platforms. Ships next business day from EU stock with a lifetime warranty. For ordering-code confirmation or platform questions, contact our sales team.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the PAN-SFP-SX work on Palo Alto Networks firewalls?

EdgeOptic codes the EEPROM with Palo-Alto-recognized data so the module identifies correctly on PA-series firewalls with 1G SFP ports. Palo Alto Networks documents which transceivers it supports on each platform, so confirm your specific firewall's supported transceiver list in Palo Alto Networks documentation before deploying. If you want help matching the right module to your platform, contact our sales team.

What is the difference between PAN-SFP-SX and PAN-T-S-SX?

PAN-SFP-SX is the standard commercial ordering code for this 1000BASE-SX SFP. PAN-T-S-SX is Palo Alto Networks' TAA ordering code for the same 1G SX module, intended for buyers who require Trade Agreements Act compliance. The optical specifications are the same; the difference is the ordering channel. EdgeOptic stocks a compatible for each code, so order PAN-SFP-SX for commercial deployments and PAN-T-S-SX when TAA procurement applies.
