Palo Alto Networks compatible PAN-T-S-SX Description
EdgeOptic's PAN-T-S-SX compatible is a Palo Alto Networks-coded version of the EdgeOptic 1.25G-SFP-550D multi-vendor 1000BASE-SX transceiver. It is a dual-rate SFP supporting Gigabit Ethernet at 1.25 Gbps (IEEE 802.3z) and 1G Fibre Channel short-wave at 1.0625 Gbps (FC-PI). An 850 nm VCSEL transmitter and PIN photodiode receiver drive duplex multimode fiber over an LC/UPC connector.
Reach is 550 m over OM2 multimode fiber (50/125, 500 MHz·km) and 220 m over OM1 (62.5 µm). The minimum guaranteed optical budget is 7.5 dB; distance is indicative, so verify the loss budget against the installed cabling. DOM/DDM reports optical power, temperature, and bias in real time. The module runs from a single +3.3V supply, is rated 0 to 70°C, and is built to the INF-8074i SFP MSA with CE, RoHS, and Class 1 laser compliance.
PAN-T-S-SX is the Palo Alto Networks TAA (Trade Agreements Act) ordering code for the SX optic; PAN-SFP-SX is the equivalent commercial code, with the same optical specification. EdgeOptic codes this compatible with Palo Alto-recognized EEPROM so it is identified correctly in Palo Alto Networks platforms with SFP interfaces. The EdgeOptic compatible covers the optical specification of the part and is not sold as a TAA-certified product.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between PAN-T-S-SX and PAN-SFP-SX?
They are the same SX optic: 850 nm, 550 m over OM2 MMF, LC duplex, DOM, 0 to 70°C. PAN-T-S-SX is Palo Alto Networks' TAA (Trade Agreements Act / Federal procurement) ordering code, and PAN-SFP-SX is the standard commercial code. Buyers ordering under federal contracts that require TAA-compliant hardware should confirm their procurement requirements, since the EdgeOptic compatible matches the optical specification but is not supplied as a TAA-certified product.
