PLANET compatible MTB-LA20 Description
EdgeOptic's MTB-LA20 compatible is a PLANET-coded Tx1270/Rx1330 version of the EdgeOptic BIDI-10G-SFP-20A multi-vendor 10G BiDi SFP+ transceiver. It transmits at 1270 nm and receives at 1330 nm, carrying a full 10 Gigabit Ethernet link over a single strand of single-mode fiber with one simplex LC connector. The EEPROM is coded for PLANET switching equipment, so the module is recognized and brought up without additional configuration.
Reach is 20 km over single-mode fiber with a 9 dB link budget, matching the distance PLANET documents for the original MTB-LA20. Optical performance follows the EdgeOptic BIDI-10G-SFP-20A specification: a DFB laser transmitter rated −5 dBm to 0 dBm, a PIN photodiode receiver with −14.5 dBm sensitivity, and a +4 dBm receiver overload point. PLANET documents the MTB-LA20 with a 0 to 60°C operating temperature range, which suits standard indoor and enclosed equipment installations.
The module runs from a +3.3 V supply and supports DDM/DOM digital diagnostics for live monitoring of transmit power, receive power, temperature, bias current, and supply voltage. Supported traffic is 10 Gigabit Ethernet and Gigabit Ethernet, matching the SFP+ ports on PLANET managed and enterprise switches. It is built to the SFP MSA and SFF-8431, and is CE, RoHS, and Class 1 laser safe per IEC 60825-1.
BiDi modules work in matched pairs over one fiber. The MTB-LA20 compatible transmits at 1270 nm and must connect to a 1330 nm transmit module at the far end, which is the MTB-LB20 compatible. Ordering two of the same direction will not establish a link. The matching EdgeOptic pair is the BIDI-10G-SFP-20A and BIDI-10G-SFP-20B.
Backed by 15+ years of EdgeOptic compatibility engineering across vendor optical platforms. The MTB-LA20 compatible ships next business day from EU stock with a lifetime warranty. For deployment questions or bulk pricing, contact our sales team.
Frequently Asked Questions
Which PLANET switches accept the MTB-LA20 transceiver?
The MTB-LA20 works in PLANET switches and media converters equipped with a 10G SFP+ port. PLANET does not publish a single combined model list for the MTB series, so verify that the target chassis has an SFP+ cage rated for 10G optics against its own datasheet before ordering. The EdgeOptic compatible is EEPROM-coded for PLANET equipment so it is recognized in the SFP+ port without extra configuration.
What is the partner module for the PLANET MTB-LA20?
The MTB-LA20 transmits at 1270 nm and receives at 1330 nm. Its partner on the far end of the fiber is the MTB-LB20, which transmits at 1330 nm and receives at 1270 nm. A single-fiber BiDi link needs one of each direction. The matching EdgeOptic pair is the BIDI-10G-SFP-20A and BIDI-10G-SFP-20B.
