PLANET compatible MTB-LR80 Description
EdgeOptic's MTB-LR80 compatible is a Planet-coded version of the EdgeOptic 10G-SFP-80 multi-vendor 10GBASE-ZR transceiver. Despite the LR80 name, this is a 1550 nm 80 km ZR-class optic, not a 1310 nm 10 km LR part; Planet uses LR in its naming to mean long range rather than the IEEE LR reach class. It runs over duplex single-mode fiber with a 23 dB link budget that carries a 10G signal across roughly 80 km of standard SMF. A single 1550 nm wavelength over single-mode fiber suits metro and inter-site uplinks that run past the 40 km reach of an ER optic.
The transmitter is an EML laser at 1550 nm and the receiver is an APD photodiode, with TX output from 0 to +5 dBm and RX sensitivity down to −24 dBm. Chromatic dispersion tolerance is about 1600 ps/nm. The chipset handles data rates from 1.25 to 11.32 Gbps and supports 10G Ethernet and Gigabit Ethernet links.
Planet switches with SFP+ interfaces run this module in a campus Ethernet scope, so the applicable applications are 10GbE and GbE; verify the supported applications against the transceiver table for the specific Planet model. The Planet OEM MTB-LR80 is a commercial 0 to 60 degrees C part, while the EdgeOptic compatible is the standard 0 to 70 degrees C grade. The hot-pluggable module uses a duplex LC connector on OS1 or OS2 single-mode fiber, runs on a single +3.3V supply, and reports temperature, voltage, bias current, and optical power through DDM/DOM. On spans well under 80 km, add an inline optical attenuator to keep received power within the operating window.
The module is CE marked, Class 1 laser compliant to IEC 60825-1, RoHS compliant, and built to the SFP+ MSA and SFF-8431. Backed by 15+ years of EdgeOptic compatibility engineering across vendor optical platforms. Ships next business day from EU stock with a lifetime warranty.
