Our EDGEOPTIC 100G-Q28-DCO-ZRI is a multi-vendor compatible 100G ZR Digital Coherent Optics (DCO) QSFP28 industrial-grade transceiver module designed for ultra-long-haul 100 Gigabit Ethernet and OTN applications operating over single-mode fiber infrastructure in challenging environmental conditions. This quad small form-factor pluggable transceiver utilizes advanced coherent detection technology with DP-QPSK (Dual Polarization Quadrature Phase Shift Keying) modulation, delivering 103.125 Gbps throughput for demanding metro, regional, and long-haul network deployments requiring extended temperature operation.
The 100G-Q28-DCO-ZRI module operates using tunable C-Band DWDM technology supporting ITU-T grid channels 13 through 61 (49 channels) with selectable 50GHz or 100GHz spacing. Our 100G ZR Coherent QSFP28 industrial transceiver utilizes ITLA (Integrable Tunable Laser Assembly) for transmission and ICR (Integrated Coherent Receiver) for receiving. On the transmission side, the module converts 4x 25.78125 GBd NRZ electrical input channels into a single coherent optical signal for long-reach fiber transmission. The coherent detection architecture enables exceptional receiver sensitivity and tolerance to fiber impairments including chromatic dispersion and polarization mode dispersion.
The transceiver achieves transmission distances up to 80 kilometers over unamplified single-mode fiber, or up to 300 kilometers when deployed with optical amplification infrastructure. However, distance is just an indicative parameter calculated for comfort of identification – eventually we calculate distance taking into account minimal optical budget, amplifier configuration, and dispersion characteristics of the optical cabling infrastructure. The ZR coherent specification represents the highest performance tier within pluggable QSFP28 form factor for long-haul transmission in harsh environments.
100G-Q28-DCO-ZRI compatible 100G ZR Coherent industrial module is a hot-pluggable QSFP28 with dual LC/UPC connectors as the optical interface. The electrical interface conforms to IEEE 802.3 CAUI-4 specification, ensuring compatibility with standard QSFP28 host systems supporting multiple vendor equipment platforms. Our 100G ZR Coherent QSFP28 industrial transceiver can be encoded to be compatible and successfully operate in different 80+ brands of equipment.
The module incorporates DDM/DOM (Digital Diagnostic Monitoring) functionality providing real-time information including transmitted and received optical power levels, module temperature, bias current, supply voltage, and current wavelength channel. The module features Built-in Staircase FEC (Forward Error Correction) integrated within the DSP, which is essential for coherent transmission to detect and correct bit errors across extended transmission paths. The module operates within an extended industrial temperature range of -45°C to +85°C with maximum power consumption of 6W, enabling deployment in outdoor enclosures, remote sites, and environments with significant temperature variations.
Standards compliance includes IEEE 802.3-2022 100GBASE-ZR and ITU-T G.709.2 specifications. The transceiver supports multi-protocol operation including 100G Ethernet (103.125 Gbps) and OTU4 (112 Gbps) for optical transport networks. The tunable C-Band wavelength capability enables flexible channel assignment and seamless integration with existing DWDM transport infrastructure.
