Our EDGEOPTIC 100G-QSFP28-10RX is a multi-vendor compatible 100GBASE-LR4 QSFP28 receive-only optical module designed for specialized 100 Gigabit Ethernet, OTN, and Fiber Channel monitoring and distribution applications. This quad small form-factor pluggable transceiver provides four-channel wavelength demultiplexing receiver functionality without transmit capability, delivering aggregate throughput up to 112.2 Gbps for network monitoring, broadcast distribution, and asymmetric communication scenarios.

The 100G-QSFP28-10RX module operates using LAN WDM technology with four discrete receive wavelength channels at 1295.56nm, 1300.05nm, 1304.58nm, and 1309.14nm. Our 100GBASE-LR4 RX-Only QSFP28 transceiver utilizes PIN photodiode array for receiving optical signals. This receive-only architecture is specifically designed for applications where only incoming signal reception is required, such as optical tap monitoring, network analysis, or unidirectional broadcast distribution systems.

The receiver provides minimum average sensitivity of -10.6 dBm per lane, enabling reception of signals transmitted from standard 100GBASE-LR4 transceivers over distances up to 10 kilometers on single-mode fiber. However, distance is just an indicative parameter calculated for comfort of identification – eventually we calculate distance taking into account minimal optical budget and average attenuation of optical cabling in industry. The single LC connector interface simplifies cabling for receive-only installations.

100G-QSFP28-10RX compatible 100GBASE-LR4 RX-Only module is a hot-pluggable QSFP28 with single LC/UPC connector as the optical interface. The electrical interface conforms to SFF-8636 and SFF-8665 MSA (Multi-Source Agreement) specifications, ensuring compatibility with standard QSFP28 host systems supporting multiple vendor equipment platforms. Our 100GBASE-LR4 RX-Only QSFP28 transceiver can be encoded to be compatible and successfully operate in different 80+ brands of equipment.

The module incorporates DDM/DOM (Digital Diagnostic Monitoring) functionality providing real-time information including received optical power levels, module temperature, and supply voltage. This diagnostic data is available via MSA-compatible interface and enables monitoring of receiver operational parameters. The module operates within a 0 to 70°C temperature range with maximum power consumption of just 1.5W, reflecting the reduced power requirements of receive-only operation.

Standards compliance includes IEEE 802.3ba for 100 Gigabit Ethernet 100GBASE-LR4 specification and QSFP28 MSA. The transceiver supports multi-protocol reception including 100G Ethernet (103.125 Gbps), 128GFC Gen 6 Fiber Channel (112.2 Gbps), and OTU4 (112 Gbps) for optical transport networks. Our 100GBASE-LR4 RX-Only QSFP28 transceiver is CE/RoHS certified, Class 1 FDA and IEC60825-1 Laser Safety Compliant.

Typical applications include passive optical tap monitoring, network traffic analysis systems, optical signal distribution networks, broadcast video delivery, and test and measurement setups requiring signal reception without transmission capability.
