Our EDGEOPTIC CWDM-100G-Q28-SL40 is a multi-vendor compatible 100G CWDM Single Lambda QSFP28 optical module designed for next-generation 100 Gigabit Ethernet applications operating over single-mode fiber infrastructure with extended reach capability. This quad small form-factor pluggable transceiver utilizes advanced PAM4 (Pulse Amplitude Modulation 4-level) encoding with CWDM wavelength compatibility, delivering 106.25 Gbps throughput for metro network and regional deployments requiring wavelength multiplexing over longer distances.
The CWDM-100G-Q28-SL40 module operates using CWDM technology with four discrete wavelength channel options at 1271nm, 1291nm, 1311nm, and 1331nm on a 20nm channel spacing grid. Our 100G CWDM Single Lambda QSFP28 transceiver utilizes DFB (Distributed Feedback) laser for transmission and PIN photodiode for receiving, with integrated CDR (Clock and Data Recovery) circuitry to maintain signal integrity at PAM4 data rates. The CWDM wavelength compatibility enables integration with existing coarse wavelength division multiplexing infrastructure for extended reach applications.
Transceiver ensures a 15.8 dB guaranteed optical link budget, which determines the maximum transmission distance. Over standard single-mode fiber with FEC enabled, the transceiver can reach distances up to 30 kilometers. However, distance is just an indicative parameter calculated for comfort of identification – eventually we calculate distance taking into account minimal optical budget and average attenuation of optical cabling in industry. The enhanced optical budget compared to 10km CWDM modules enables extended metro reach while maintaining CWDM cost advantages.
CWDM-100G-Q28-SL40 compatible 100G CWDM Single Lambda module is a hot-pluggable QSFP28 with dual LC/UPC connectors as the optical interface. The electrical interface conforms to 100G Lambda MSA, CAUI-4, QSFP28 MSA, and SFF-8636 specifications, ensuring compatibility with standard QSFP28 host systems. Our 100G CWDM Single Lambda QSFP28 transceiver can be encoded to be compatible and successfully operate in different 80+ brands of equipment.
The module incorporates DDM/DOM (Digital Diagnostic Monitoring) functionality providing real-time information including transmitted and received optical power levels, module temperature, bias current, and supply voltage. The module features integrated FEC (Forward Error Correction) within the DSP, which is essential for PAM4 modulation to detect and correct bit errors, ensuring reliable transmission across the extended 30km reach. The module operates within a 0 to 70°C temperature range with maximum power consumption of 4.5W.
