Our EDGEOPTIC OWDM-100G-Q28-30 is a multi-vendor compatible 100G O-Band xWDM QSFP28 optical module designed for 100 Gigabit Ethernet applications operating over single-mode fiber infrastructure. This quad small form-factor pluggable transceiver utilizes advanced PAM4 (Pulse Amplitude Modulation 4-level) encoding with O-Band wavelength multiplexing, delivering 103.125 Gbps throughput for extended-reach metro network and data center interconnect deployments.

The OWDM-100G-Q28-30 module operates using O-Band xWDM technology within the 1290nm to 1325nm wavelength range on a 200GHz grid spacing, supporting up to 16 discrete channel options. Our 100G O-Band xWDM QSFP28 transceiver utilizes DFB (Distributed Feedback) laser for transmission and APD (Avalanche Photodiode) for receiving, with integrated CDR (Clock and Data Recovery) circuitry to maintain signal integrity at PAM4 data rates. The O-Band operation window is optimized for minimal chromatic dispersion, simplifying deployment without dispersion compensation requirements.

Transceiver ensures a 14.7 dB guaranteed optical link budget, which determines the maximum transmission distance. Over standard single-mode fiber, the transceiver can reach distances up to 30 kilometers. However, distance is just an indicative parameter calculated for comfort of identification – eventually we calculate distance taking into account minimal optical budget and average attenuation of optical cabling in industry. The O-Band wavelength selection minimizes dispersion-related signal degradation across the extended transmission path.

OWDM-100G-Q28-30 compatible 100G O-Band xWDM module is a hot-pluggable QSFP28 with dual LC/UPC connectors as the optical interface. The electrical interface conforms to SFF-8636 and QSFP28 MSA (Multi-Source Agreement) specifications, ensuring compatibility with standard QSFP28 host systems supporting multiple vendor equipment platforms. Our 100G O-Band xWDM QSFP28 transceiver can be encoded to be compatible and successfully operate in different 80+ brands of equipment.

The module incorporates DDM/DOM (Digital Diagnostic Monitoring) functionality providing real-time information including transmitted and received optical power levels, module temperature, bias current, and supply voltage. Additionally, the module supports Host FEC (Forward Error Correction) function which is essential for PAM4 modulation to detect and correct bit errors, ensuring reliable transmission. The module operates within a 0 to 70°C temperature range with maximum power consumption of 4.7W.

Standards compliance includes QSFP28 MSA and SFF-8636 specifications. Our 100G O-Band xWDM QSFP28 transceiver is CE/RoHS certified, Class 1 FDA and IEC60825-1 Laser Safety Compliant.

Typical applications include metro network wavelength services, data center interconnects requiring wavelength multiplexing capability, and deployments where O-Band dispersion characteristics provide advantages over C-Band DWDM solutions.
