Supermicro compatible AOC-E10GSFPLR Description
EdgeOptic's Supermicro-compatible AOC-E10GSFPLR is a 10GBASE-LR SFP+ transceiver that replaces the original Supermicro module used in Supermicro servers, AOC network adapter cards, and switches. It operates at 1310 nm over single-mode fiber with LC duplex connectors, supporting distances up to 10 km. Data rates up to 10.3125 Gbps (10GBASE-LR) are supported.
Built on the EdgeOptic 10G-SFP-10 platform. IEEE 802.3ae and SFP+ MSA compliant (SFF-8431). The EEPROM is coded with Supermicro vendor identification, so it registers correctly in Supermicro equipment without triggering compatibility warnings. Supermicro publishes a transceiver compatibility matrix for their AOC accessories at their support site, and this module meets those specifications. Data rates from 1.25 to 10.31 Gbps.
1310 nm DFB laser transmitter, 6 dB optical link budget, LC duplex connectors, OS1 or OS2 single-mode fiber required. Multi-mode fiber is not compatible. DOM (Digital Optical Monitoring) per SFF-8472 is included, providing real-time monitoring of TX/RX power levels, temperature, supply voltage, and laser bias current. In Linux environments, DOM data is accessible through standard NIC management tools like ethtool — optical issues are diagnosable at the NIC level without dedicated test equipment.
The AOC-E10GSFPLR is used across Supermicro's server and networking product lines, including SFP+ NIC slots on Supermicro AOC adapter cards. EdgeOptic's compatible module is verified against the Supermicro transceiver compatibility matrix. Common use cases include storage replication links between Supermicro server clusters, 10G uplinks from Supermicro-based hypervisor hosts to the data center core, and iSCSI or NFS storage network connectivity where single-mode fiber distances exceed multi-mode limits.
Linux note: Supermicro servers often use Intel-based NICs with the ixgbe kernel driver. Some ixgbe driver versions include an SFP vendor check that may flag third-party modules. A well-documented kernel parameter exists to allow non-Intel-branded SFP+ modules. If a Supermicro server running Linux encounters an SFP recognition issue, check the ixgbe driver documentation or contact EdgeOptic support for platform-specific guidance.
CE/RoHS certified, Class 1 laser safety compliant. Part of the EdgeOptic 10G-SFP-10 product family. Each module ships with individual test results and a lifetime warranty. For volume pricing, Supermicro platform questions, or Linux driver compatibility assistance -- contact our sales team.
Frequently Asked Questions
Will the AOC-E10GSFPLR work with Intel ixgbe-based NICs in Linux?
Some ixgbe driver versions perform an SFP vendor check that may flag non-Intel modules. A kernel parameter documented in the ixgbe source resolves this. EdgeOptic's AOC-E10GSFPLR is EEPROM-coded for Supermicro, which satisfies most configurations. For SFP recognition issues — contact our sales team for platform-specific guidance.
