Supermicro compatible AOM-SFP28-25GBE-SR-1-MLN Description
EdgeOptic's AOM-SFP28-25GBE-SR-1-MLN compatible is a Supermicro-coded Mellanox-EEPROM version of the EdgeOptic 25G-SFP28-100 multi-vendor 25GBASE-SR SFP28 transceiver. The MLN suffix on the Supermicro SKU denotes Mellanox EEPROM identification and cross-references to the Mellanox MMA2P00-AS OEM part number. Supermicro also ships an INT-suffix variant with Intel EEPROM coding for Intel-based SFP28 adapters; the two are not interchangeable at the EEPROM level.
Optical specs: 850 nm VCSEL transmitter, PIN photodiode receiver, TX power −5 to +2.4 dBm, RX sensitivity better than −10.3 dBm, 5.3 dB link budget. Reach is 100 m on OM4, 100 m on OM5, and 70 m on OM3 with an LC/UPC duplex connector. The module is IEEE 802.3by Clause 112 compliant. RS-FEC per Clause 91 (RS(528,514)) is supported and enabled by the host port when 25GBASE-SR is negotiated.
Electrical interface follows SFF-8431 and SFF-8432 for the SFP28 cage. Digital diagnostics are SFF-8472 compliant and read back through mstflint on Mellanox OFED, ethtool -m on Linux, and Supermicro IPMI for per-module temperature, supply voltage, TX bias, TX power, and RX power. Power dissipation is 0.3 W and the module operates across 0 to 70 C.
Supermicro lists the AOM-SFP28-25GBE-SR-1-MLN for use with the AOC-S25G-m2S and AOC-AH25G-M2S2TM-O add-on cards and with Supermicro AIOM 25 GbE modules built on Mellanox ConnectX-4 Lx EN silicon. Because the EEPROM identifies as Mellanox, the module is generally accepted on native Mellanox ConnectX-4 Lx based platforms as well, but verify against the Mellanox/Nvidia HCT for specific switch and adapter models before deploying outside the Supermicro-listed scope.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between the MLN and INT suffix variants of AOM-SFP28-25GBE-SR?
The optical transceiver is physically identical. The difference is EEPROM coding: MLN identifies as Mellanox for ConnectX-4 Lx EN-based Supermicro adapters (AOC-S25G-m2S, AOC-AH25G-M2S2TM-O). INT identifies as Intel for Intel E810 and XXV710-based Supermicro adapters. Select the variant that matches the NIC silicon in the target server; the two are not interchangeable at the EEPROM level.
Is the AOM-SFP28-25GBE-SR-1-MLN accepted on native Mellanox ConnectX-4 Lx NICs, or only on Supermicro adapters?
The Supermicro store page lists the AOM-SFP28-25GBE-SR-1-MLN for Supermicro AOC-S25G-m2S, AOC-AH25G-M2S2TM-O, and AIOM 25 GbE modules built on Mellanox ConnectX-4 Lx EN silicon. Because the EEPROM identifies as Mellanox, the module is generally accepted on native Mellanox ConnectX-4 Lx based NICs and switches; verify against the Mellanox/Nvidia HCT for the specific model before deploying outside the Supermicro-listed scope.
