TRENDnet compatible TEG-10GBS40 Description
EdgeOptic's TEG-10GBS40 compatible is a TRENDnet-coded 40 km version of the EdgeOptic 10G-SFP-40 multi-vendor 10GBASE-ER SFP+ transceiver. The EEPROM is programmed to be recognized by TRENDnet Ethernet switches, so the module reports as a TRENDnet-branded optic in the host interface and slots into MSA-compliant SFP+ cages without configuration workarounds. It is one of multiple vendor codes EdgeOptic ships from a single 10GBASE-ER hardware design.
The optic operates at a nominal 1550 nm wavelength over duplex single-mode fiber and reaches 40 km on a standard pair of LC/UPC connectors. It carries a 15 dB link budget. Transmit power is rated between −1 dBm and +4 dBm, receiver sensitivity is −16 dBm, and the receiver overload point is 0 dBm. The chromatic dispersion tolerance is 800 to 1000 ps/nm, which keeps the 40 km span within margin on standard single-mode fiber. A PIN photodiode handles the receive path. Engineers should verify both ends of the link match this reach and wavelength class during commissioning.
Digital diagnostics monitoring is supported per SFF-8472, so the host can read module temperature, +3.3 V supply voltage, laser bias current, transmit optical power, and receive optical power in real time. Those readings give network operators an early warning when a span starts to degrade, before the link drops. The TEG-10GBS40 compatible runs across the 0 to 70 °C commercial temperature range on a single +3.3 V supply rail and uses a duplex LC/UPC interface on standard single-mode fiber.
The TEG-10GBS40 carries 10 Gigabit Ethernet at the IEEE-exact line rate of 10.3125 Gbps and Gigabit Ethernet at 1.25 Gbps, matching the rates handled by TRENDnet Ethernet switching platforms. It is compliant with the SFP+ MSA, SFF-8431, CE, RoHS, and IEC 60825-1 Class 1 laser safety. A 40 km 10GBASE-ER link is built for metro aggregation, building-to-building backbone runs, and campus uplinks where the distance is past the 10 km reach of an LR optic. Because the transmit and receive specs match the original TRENDnet part, the module drops into an existing TEG-10GBS40 deployment as a like-for-like replacement with no design change.
Backed by 15+ years of EdgeOptic compatibility engineering across vendor optical platforms, the TEG-10GBS40 compatible ships next business day from EU stock with a lifetime warranty. For volume pricing or a deployment question, contact our sales team.
