TRENDnet compatible TEG-MGBSX Description

EdgeOptic's TEG-MGBSX compatible is a TRENDnet-coded version of the EdgeOptic 1.25G-SFP-550D multi-vendor 1000BASE-SX transceiver. It runs Gigabit Ethernet at 1.25 Gbps (IEEE 802.3z) and 1G Fibre Channel SW at 1.0625 Gbps over duplex multimode fiber, using an 850nm VCSEL transmitter and a PIN photodiode receiver.

A 7.5 dB optical budget carries the link 550 m over OM2 multimode fiber (50/125, 500 MHz·km) and 275 m over OM1 (62.5/125). Transmit power is -9.5 to +3 dBm, receiver sensitivity -17 dBm, receiver overload -3 dBm. The module uses a duplex LC/UPC interface and supports DDM/DOM diagnostics for live monitoring of optical power, bias current, and temperature. It operates over the commercial 0 to 70°C range, built to the INF-8074i SFP MSA, +3.3V supply, CE/RoHS, Class 1 laser safety.

TEG-MGBSX is TRENDnet's ordering code for this 1G SX module. TRENDnet lists its slot type as Mini-GBIC (SFP); Mini-GBIC is TRENDnet's own name for the SFP form factor, so the module seats in standard SFP slots. EdgeOptic codes the EEPROM with TRENDnet-recognized data so the module is accepted on TRENDnet platforms. Frequently Asked Questions

Is the TRENDnet TEG-MGBSX the same as the TEG-GBSX?

No. They are separate TRENDnet products. TRENDnet documents the TEG-MGBSX as a Multi-mode Mini GBIC (SFP) module and the TEG-GBSX as a Multi-mode GBIC module. Both codes are 850nm, multimode and 550 m, so the optical specs will not tell them apart; the slot type does. EdgeOptic's compatible is the SFP form factor and fits SFP (Mini-GBIC) slots. It does not fit a full-size GBIC slot, so check the slot type on your switch before ordering, or contact our sales team and we will confirm the right part.
