Compatible BiDi eCPRI

BIDI (bidirectional) eCPRI 25G SFP28 (Small Form-Factor Pluggable 28) transceivers are used in 5G Mobile Network Fronthaul for Single Fibre connections. It is an excellent and very simple method to reduce complexity of cabling for 1 to 1 links between Radio Equipment Control (eREC) and eCPRI Radio Equipment (eRE) as 2 times less fiber is required using BIDI eCPRI Transceivers comparing to Gray eCPRI Double Fiber network construction approach. BIDI eCPRI 25G SFP28 use Wavelength Division Multiplexing (WDM) couplers, which combine and separate data transmitted over a single fiber based on the wavelengths of the light. To elaborate, at one side (Side A) we have optical transceiver with Tx: 1270nm and Rx: 1330nm wavelength and on the opposite side of the single fiber link (Side B) we have optical transceiver with Tx: 1330nm and Rx: 1270nm wavelength. Based on the above we use WDM principles and achieve bidirectional transmission over single fiber. Our BIDI eCPRI 25G SFP28 are as well backwards compatible with older generation 4G/3G Mobile Base Stations. BIDI eCPRI 25G modules support latest 5G Fronthaul bit rate requirements and such applications as CPRI Option 10 (24.33 Gbps), CPRI Option 9 (12.165 Gbps), CPRI Option 8 (10.138 Gbps) and CPRI option 7 (9.830 Gbps).

Typical BIDI eCPRI 25G SFP28 deployment scenarios are:

  • BIDI 25GE LR (Long Range) eCPRI / CPRI, applications up to 10km over OS2 fiber
  • BIDI 25GE LR 20km (Long Range) eCPRI / CPRI, applications up to 20km over OS2 fiber
  • BIDI 25GE ER (Extended Range) eCPRI / CPRI, applications up to 40km over OS2 fiber

Standard Temperature BIDI 25G SFP28 eCPRI:

For optical module use in typical telecom environments, Standard Temperature product versions are recommended with 0 to 70 Celsius operating temperature range.
