25G DWDM SFP28 15km Transceiver Description

Our EDGEOPTIC DWDM-25G-SFP28-15 is a multi-vendor compatible 25G DWDM SFP28 dual-fiber optical module designed for dense wavelength division multiplexed 25 Gigabit Ethernet applications operating over single-mode fiber cabling. The DWDM-25G-SFP28-15 module supports fixed-wavelength transmission across 45 channels (17-61) in the DWDM C-Band 100 GHz ITU grid, with data rates from 8.5 to 28.1 Gbps supporting multiple protocol standards and applications. Our 25G DWDM SFP28 transceiver utilizes EML (Electro-absorption Modulated Laser) technology for transmission and APD (Avalanche Photodiode) for receiving, delivering high-density wavelength division multiplexing for metropolitan and regional network deployments.

The transceiver ensures a 14 dB guaranteed optical link budget with host-based Forward Error Correction (FEC) support, which determines the maximum transmission distance capabilities. Over standard single-mode fiber (SMF), the module achieves reliable transmission up to 15 kilometers, making it ideal for DWDM-based metro networks, data center interconnects, and service provider infrastructure requiring dense wavelength multiplexing. However, distance is just an indicative parameter calculated for convenience of identification – eventually we calculate distance taking into account minimal optical budget and average attenuation of optical cabling in industry standards. The DWDM architecture enables up to 45 channels of 25G traffic over a single fiber pair, providing 1.125 Tbps aggregate capacity with maximum spectral efficiency.

DWDM-25G-SFP28-15 compatible wavelength-specific module is hot-pluggable SFP28 with duplex LC/UPC connectors as an optical interface. The electrical interface conforms to SFF-8431, SFF-8472, IEEE 802.3, SFF-8432, and SFP28 MSA specifications, ensuring compatibility with standard SFP28 host systems supporting multiple vendor equipment platforms. Our 25G DWDM SFP28 transceiver can be encoded to be compatible and successfully operate in different 80+ brands of equipment. The module incorporates comprehensive DDM/DOM (Digital Diagnostic Monitoring) functionality providing real-time information including transmitted and received optical power levels, module temperature, bias current, and supply voltage. This diagnostic data is available via MSA-compatible EEPROM interface, enabling continuous monitoring of transceiver operational parameters critical for DWDM channel management.

The module operates within a 0 to 70°C temperature range with maximum power consumption of 2W, optimized for deployment in controlled environment data centers and telecom facilities. The EML laser technology provides exceptional wavelength stability with output power from 0 to 5 dBm and enhanced extinction ratio of 6 dB minimum, ensuring superior signal quality and minimal crosstalk in dense DWDM systems. The APD photodiode receiver delivers enhanced sensitivity of -14 dBm with precise ITU-T DWDM Grid 100 GHz C-Band reception capability, supporting both 50 GHz and 100 GHz channel spacing for maximum deployment flexibility. The transceiver achieves multi-vendor interoperability through adherence to industry standards, though equipment with vendor-specific module validation may require custom EEPROM programming for compatibility.

Our 25G DWDM SFP28 transceiver is CE/RoHS certified and compliant with Class 1 FDA and IEC60825-1 laser safety standards. Typical applications include metro core DWDM networks, data center interconnects with ROADM systems, service provider backbone infrastructure, and carrier-grade transport systems requiring maximum spectral efficiency. The fixed-wavelength DWDM capability enables operators to deploy up to 45 independent 25G channels over existing fiber infrastructure, providing a scalable upgrade path with minimal fiber requirements. The multi-rate capability accommodates legacy 10 Gigabit Ethernet operation alongside native 25 Gigabit rates, providing operational flexibility for mixed-speed network deployments. Because our focus is providing top quality service, we perform rigorous quality checks before delivery including optical parameter measurements, wavelength accuracy verification to ITU grid specifications, connector cleanliness tests, and SFP28 transceiver EEPROM memory data validation tests, ensuring reliable 15km transmission at the specified DWDM wavelength.
