25G DWDM SFP28 15km Industrial Transceiver Description

Our EDGEOPTIC DWDM-25G-SFP28-15I is a multi-vendor compatible industrial-grade 25G DWDM SFP28 dual-fiber optical module designed for dense wavelength division multiplexed 25 Gigabit Ethernet applications in harsh environmental conditions. The DWDM-25G-SFP28-15I module supports fixed-wavelength transmission across 45 channels (17-61) in the DWDM C-Band 100 GHz ITU grid, with data rates from 8.5 to 28.1 Gbps supporting multiple protocol standards and applications. Our industrial 25G DWDM SFP28 transceiver utilizes EML (Electro-absorption Modulated Laser) technology for transmission and APD (Avalanche Photodiode) for receiving, engineered specifically for high-density wavelength division multiplexing in extreme temperature environments.

The transceiver ensures a 14 dB guaranteed optical link budget with host-based Forward Error Correction (FEC) support, which determines the maximum transmission distance capabilities. Over standard single-mode fiber (SMF), the module achieves reliable transmission up to 15 kilometers, making it ideal for outdoor DWDM networks, industrial optical transport systems, and harsh environment deployments requiring dense wavelength multiplexing. However, distance is just an indicative parameter calculated for convenience of identification – eventually we calculate distance taking into account minimal optical budget and average attenuation of optical cabling in industry standards. The robust DWDM architecture enables up to 45 channels of 25G traffic over a single fiber pair while maintaining performance across extreme temperature variations.

DWDM-25G-SFP28-15I compatible industrial wavelength-specific module is hot-pluggable SFP28 with duplex LC/UPC connectors as an optical interface. The electrical interface conforms to SFF-8431, SFF-8472, IEEE 802.3, SFF-8432, and SFP28 MSA specifications, ensuring compatibility with standard SFP28 host systems supporting multiple vendor equipment platforms. Our industrial 25G DWDM SFP28 transceiver can be encoded to be compatible and successfully operate in different 80+ brands of equipment. The module incorporates comprehensive DDM/DOM (Digital Diagnostic Monitoring) functionality providing real-time information including transmitted and received optical power levels, module temperature, bias current, and supply voltage. This diagnostic data is available via MSA-compatible EEPROM interface, enabling continuous monitoring of DWDM channel performance across extreme temperature variations.

The module operates within an extended industrial temperature range of -45°C to +85°C, with maximum power consumption of 2W, specifically designed for deployment in uncontrolled environments including outdoor cabinets, remote cell sites, industrial facilities, and transportation infrastructure. The enhanced thermal design ensures stable EML laser operation with output power from 0 to 5 dBm and maintains the enhanced extinction ratio of 6 dB minimum across all 45 supported DWDM channels in the C-Band. The APD photodiode receiver delivers exceptional sensitivity of -14 dBm with precise ITU-T DWDM Grid reception capability, supporting both 50 GHz and 100 GHz channel spacing even at temperature extremes. The wide receiver acceptance across the entire C-Band ensures flexibility in network design and channel allocation. Standards compliance includes IEEE 802.3 specifications for 25 Gigabit Ethernet, supporting both 10G Ethernet and 25G Ethernet applications.

Our industrial 25G DWDM SFP28 transceiver is CE/RoHS certified and compliant with Class 1 FDA and IEC60825-1 laser safety standards. Typical applications include outdoor metro DWDM networks, industrial optical transport systems, smart city infrastructure with ROADM capabilities, railway communications backbone, and utility networks requiring dense wavelength multiplexing in harsh conditions. The combination of DWDM technology and industrial hardening enables operators to deploy up to 45 independent 25G channels over existing fiber infrastructure in extreme environments, providing 1.125 Tbps aggregate capacity with maximum spectral efficiency. The multi-rate capability accommodates legacy 10 Gigabit Ethernet operation alongside native 25 Gigabit rates, providing operational flexibility for mixed-speed network deployments. Because our focus is providing top quality service, we perform extensive environmental testing including thermal cycling across all DWDM channels, vibration resistance, humidity exposure tests, wavelength stability verification to ITU grid specifications, in addition to optical parameter measurements, connector cleanliness tests, and SFP28 transceiver EEPROM memory data validation tests.
