NOKIA (Alcatel) compatible 3HE04823AA Description
The EdgeOptic 10G-SFP-10 is a compatible replacement for the Nokia (Alcatel-Lucent) 3HE04823AA 10GBASE-LR SFP+ transceiver. It provides 10 Gigabit Ethernet over single-mode fiber at 1310nm, reaching up to 10km with a duplex LC connector. This module is EEPROM-coded for Nokia/ALU platforms.
The transceiver operates at data rates from 1.25 to 10.3125 Gbps, supporting 10GBASE-LR (IEEE 802.3ae) and Gigabit Ethernet applications. It uses a 1310nm DFB laser transmitter paired with a PIN photodiode receiver, with a minimum link budget of 6dB over standard G.652 single-mode fiber.
This module is tested on Nokia 7750 SR, 7705 SAR, and 7250 SAS series routers and switches. The transceiver EEPROM is programmed with Nokia-compatible vendor data for recognition on these platforms.
Nokia uses the 3HE prefix for optical transceivers. The 3HE04823AA and 3HE04823AAAA01 are the same module with different part number lengths. The extended format (AAAA01) appears in some Nokia ordering systems and BOMs.
Digital Diagnostic Monitoring (DDM) is supported per SFF-8472. The module reports TX/RX optical power, temperature, laser bias current, and supply voltage in real time. It is MSA-compliant per SFF-8431 and SFF-8432, CE/RoHS certified, and operates in commercial temperature range (0 to 70C).
All EdgeOptic modules ship with a lifetime warranty and are tested before dispatch. For volume pricing or project support, contact our sales team.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between 3HE04823AA and 3HE04823AAAA01?
They are the same module. The 3HE04823AAAA01 is the extended Nokia part number format that appears in some ordering systems and bills of materials. The shorter 3HE04823AA is the commonly referenced version.
What Nokia platforms support the 3HE04823AA?
The 3HE04823AA is listed for the Nokia 7750 SR, 7705 SAR, and 7250 SAS series. It fits any Nokia platform with SFP+ ports that supports 10GBASE-LR optics. Check the Nokia SR OS interface documentation for your specific chassis and line card.
Does the 3HE04823AA work in both Alcatel-Lucent and Nokia branded equipment?
Yes. Nokia acquired Alcatel-Lucent in 2016. Equipment branded as Alcatel-Lucent (e.g., older 7750 SR units) and current Nokia-branded hardware use the same transceiver part numbers and EEPROM coding.
Does Nokia SR OS accept third-party SFP+ modules?
Nokia SR OS may log informational messages for non-Nokia coded transceivers but does not block traffic. The EdgeOptic compatible module is coded with Nokia-compatible vendor data, so it is recognized without warnings on supported platforms.
