200G QSFP56 to 2×100G QSFP56 Active Optical Breakout Cable Description
Our EDGEOPTIC 200G-AOC-QSFP56-2QSFP56 is a multi-vendor compatible 200G QSFP56 to 2x 100G QSFP56 active optical breakout cable designed for ultra-high-performance 100/200 Gigabit Ethernet aggregation applications requiring extended reach beyond copper cable limitations. The 200G-AOC-QSFP56-2QSFP56 features a 1-to-2 breakout configuration with a single QSFP56 connector on the 200G host end and two independent 100G QSFP56 connectors on the multi-port end, utilizing embedded parallel multimode fiber optic technology to deliver reliable high-bandwidth connectivity up to 100 meters for 200G-to-100G interconnects between high-density spine switches, aggregation layers, and 100GBASE-SR2 QSFP56-equipped servers, storage arrays, and routers.
The cable routes data signals from the four-lane 200GBASE-SR4 QSFP56 host port to two independent 100GBASE-SR2 QSFP56 endpoints, with two lanes connecting to each 100G QSFP56 connector. Each lane operates at 53.125 Gbps PAM-4, providing 100 Gbps aggregate to each QSFP56 endpoint and 200 Gbps aggregate on the QSFP56 host side. For Ethernet deployments, the cable enables a 200GBASE-SR4 QSFP56 switch port to terminate into two 100GBASE-SR2 QSFP56 endpoints, allowing operators to leverage 200G-capable spine and aggregation switches while connecting to next-generation 100G PAM-4 endpoints without dedicating discrete 100G switch ports.
The 200G-AOC-QSFP56-2QSFP56 operates at 850nm wavelength, utilizing a 4-channel VCSEL (Vertical-Cavity Surface-Emitting Laser) array for transmission and a 4-channel PIN photodiode array for receiving on the 200G end, with corresponding 2-channel VCSEL and PIN arrays on each 100G QSFP56 endpoint. The embedded multimode fiber supports distances up to 70 meters over OM3 fiber and extends to 100 meters over OM4 fiber, providing deployment flexibility based on available infrastructure. Because the optical fiber is permanently terminated within the cable assembly, there are no exposed fiber connectors to clean or protect, simplifying installation and reducing maintenance requirements compared to traditional optical patch cables with separate transceivers.
The cable incorporates DSP-based PAM-4 signal processing, enabling clean transmission at 53.125 Gbps per lane with built-in equalization and error mitigation across all four optical channels. Active optical cables offer inherent immunity to electromagnetic interference, making them ideal for environments with significant electrical noise. The lightweight and flexible construction allows for easier cable routing in congested pathways and improved airflow compared to copper bundles, which is particularly valuable in high-density 200G breakout deployments where thermal management is critical.
The cable operates from a +3.3V single power supply with maximum power consumption of 5.5W per end. The electrical interface conforms to QSFP56 MSA and SFF-8665 specifications, ensuring broad compatibility with standard QSFP56 host systems from multiple equipment vendors. Our 200G QSFP56 to 2x100G QSFP56 AOC cables can be encoded for compatibility with over 80 different equipment brands.
The cable incorporates built-in DDM/DOM (Digital Diagnostic Monitoring) functionality, providing real-time diagnostic data including transmitted and received optical power levels, module temperature, bias current, and supply voltage through the MSA-compatible management interface. Standards compliance includes IEEE 802.3cd 200GBASE-SR4 specifications. The cable supports hot pluggability and operates within a 0 to 70°C case temperature range with an MTBF rating of 1,000,000 hours, delivering long-term reliability for mission-critical 200G breakout infrastructure deployments.
Our 200G QSFP56 to 2x100G QSFP56 active optical cable is CE/RoHS6 certified and compliant with product safety standards. Because our focus is providing top quality service, we perform comprehensive quality checks before delivery including optical parameter measurements, connector inspection tests, and QSFP56 EEPROM memory data validation.
