EdgeOptic's J8177B compatible is an HPE Aruba-coded version of the EdgeOptic 1000M-SFP-T multi-vendor 10/100/1000BASE-T copper SFP transceiver. It matches the form factor, electrical interface, and reach of the original HPE Aruba J8177B copper Mini-GBIC, so it drops into the same RJ45 SFP ports on HP ProCurve and HPE Aruba ArubaOS-Switch chassis that already accept the OEM part. The J8177B is a copper twisted-pair module, not a fiber optic part.
The transceiver runs over unshielded twisted-pair cabling, with up to 100 m on Cat 5 or Cat 5e. The RJ45 connector accepts standard structured cabling, and the tri-speed chipset auto-negotiates 10BASE-T, 100BASE-TX, and 1000BASE-T, the Gigabit rate built to IEEE 802.3ab, with Auto MDI/MDI-X handling straight or crossover wiring. Operation falls in the commercial 0 to 70 degrees Celsius range on a single +3.3 V supply, and digital diagnostics monitoring is supported.
