Aruba compatible JL783A Description

EdgeOptic's JL783A compatible is an Aruba-coded, Industrial-Temp version of the EdgeOptic 10G-SFP-10I multi-vendor 10GBASE-LR SFP+ transceiver. Built to IEEE 802.3ae Clause 52, it transmits and receives at 1310 nm across a 1260 to 1360 nm window over single-mode fiber through a duplex LC/UPC connector pair, reaching 10 km on a 6 dB average link budget. The underlying hardware's data rate envelope spans 1.25 to 11.32 Gbps, covering 10 Gigabit Ethernet at 10.31 Gbps and Gigabit Ethernet at 1.25 Gbps; on Aruba ArubaOS-Switch and ArubaOS-CX platforms, the application scope for this part runs Ethernet only, at those two rates. The module is programmed with Aruba-compatible EEPROM data so it presents the correct HPE and Aruba identity to the host. Some ArubaOS releases require enabling unsupported-transceiver support before accepting third-party optics; EdgeOptic's guide to enabling unsupported transceivers on Aruba switches covers that step.

The same optical hardware also carries a wider multi-protocol envelope at the component level, including 1G, 2G, 4G, 8G and 10G Fibre Channel (1.0625, 2.125, 4.25, 8.5 and 10.52 Gbps) plus STM-64 SDH/SONET at 9.95 Gbps; those framings are outside the Ethernet-only scope of Aruba switching hardware and apply only where the host platform actually terminates them. Diagnostic monitoring through DDM/DOM reports transmit power between -8.2 dBm and -0.5 dBm, receive sensitivity down to -14.5 dBm and receive overload at 0 dBm, with the DFB laser and PIN photodiode design tolerating 70 to 100 ps/nm of chromatic dispersion. The module is CE marked, Class 1 laser safe per FDA and IEC 60825-1, RoHS compliant, and built to SFF-8431 and the SFP MSA. EdgeOptic's module carries an industrial operating range of -45°C to 85°C, wider than the -40°C to 85°C published for the original Aruba JL783A ordering code. Consult Aruba's transceiver guide for exact compliance with the OEM specification. Backed by 15+ years of EdgeOptic compatibility engineering across vendor optical platforms and a lifetime warranty, the JL783A compatible ships ready for Aruba industrial-temp deployments. Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between JL783A and JL782A?

JL782A is Aruba's short-reach multimode Industrial-Temp SFP+; JL783A, described on this page, is the long-reach 1310 nm, 10 km single-mode part. Aruba's transceiver guide groups both under its Industrial-Temp category; confirm the exact part number needed for the deployment before ordering.
