Aruba compatible JW091A Description
JW091A is Aruba's 10GBASE-SR SFP+ part number, originally qualified for the 7200-series and 7000-series Mobility Controllers as well as CX 6300/6400 access-layer switches. EdgeOptic's compatible replacement is built on the 10G-SFP-300 platform and programmed with Aruba-recognized EEPROM, so ArubaOS and AOS-CX accept the module without vendor mismatch alerts. The JW091A designation is specific to Aruba's wireless infrastructure portfolio. Other Aruba 10G SR part numbers (J9150D for ProCurve, R9D18A for Instant On, JM535A for CX 10G aggregation) target different switch families with different EEPROM coding, so mixing SKUs across product lines is not recommended.
Optical parameters follow IEEE 802.3ae 10GBASE-SR: 850 nm VCSEL transmitter, PIN photodiode receiver, 6.1 dB minimum link budget. Reach is 300 m over OM3 and 400 m over OM4 multimode fiber. Distance is an indicative parameter derived from the guaranteed optical budget and typical cable attenuation values. The LC/UPC duplex interface conforms to SFF-8431 and SFF-8432 mechanical and electrical specifications. Data rate support spans 1.25 to 10.3125 Gbps, covering 10GbE, GbE applications depending on the host port configuration. Actual application support depends on the port type and platform firmware where the module is installed. DDM provides live monitoring of Tx/Rx power, temperature, bias current, and supply voltage through ArubaOS or AOS-CX CLI. The commercial operating temperature range is 0 to 70 °C.
The module is CE/RoHS certified and compliant with the SFP+ MSA. Aruba Mobility Controller EEPROM coding is confirmed on every unit. For bulk pricing or platform-specific questions, contact our sales team.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is the JW091A the same as the J9150D for Aruba switches?
No. JW091A and J9150D are both 10GBASE-SR SFP+ modules, but they carry different Aruba EEPROM coding. JW091A is qualified for Mobility Controllers (7200, 7000 series) and newer CX platforms. J9150D targets the ProCurve/legacy switch lines. Using the wrong SKU may trigger a vendor warning or limit functionality on some firmware versions.
Does the JW091A work in AOS-CX switches like the CX 6300?
Yes. EdgeOptic's JW091A compatible is coded with Aruba-recognized EEPROM that AOS-CX firmware accepts on CX 6300 and CX 6400 series. The module registers correctly in 'show interface transceiver' output and DDM telemetry reports through the AOS-CX management interface.
