It matches the form factor, electrical interface, and reach of the original HPE Aruba R9F87A copper SFP, so it drops into the same RJ45 SFP ports on ArubaOS-CX campus switches that already accept the OEM part. The R9F87A is a copper twisted-pair module, not a fiber optic part.
The transceiver runs over unshielded twisted-pair cable, with up to 100 m of reach on Cat 5, Cat 5e, or Cat 6.
