1 Channel Single Fiber Passive CWDM Line Termination Unit Description
The SCLT-1 is EdgeOptic's configurable BiDi CWDM OADM unit for single-fiber CWDM links. It extracts and inserts one CWDM channel pair toward a single side of the link, east or west, not both. This one-sided line termination design differs from a two-sided OADM, which adds and drops on both directions, and from a full mux/demux, which handles every channel.
Connectors are LC/UPC. Housing is configurable as mini-LGX or LGX, and wavelength is selected from 9 CWDM channel pairs on the ITU-T G.694.2 grid, 1271 to 1611 nm, at 20 nm spacing. A 1 percent monitoring port is available on request, except on the 3 shortest-wavelength pairs, where the configuration matrix does not offer it.
Filtering uses a thin film filter with a passband of plus or minus 6.5 nm around the selected center wavelength. Insertion loss is 1.2 dB, rising to about 1.5 dB with the monitor port enabled, with 30 dB isolation on adjacent channels and 45 dB on non-adjacent channels.
Being fully passive, the unit needs no power or active electronics and no ongoing configuration once installed. Filtering by wavelength rather than protocol, it passes any signal on the selected channel, including Ethernet, SDH/SONET and Fibre Channel. Operating range is -5 to 70 degrees Celsius, humidity 5 to 95 percent, storage negative 40 to 85 degrees Celsius, and MTBF is 1,000,000 hours. It is CE, ISO, ITU-T G.694.2 and RoHS compliant.

What is the difference between the SCLT-1 and a two-sided OADM?
The SCLT-1 is a one-sided line termination unit. It extracts and inserts a single CWDM channel pair toward one side of the link only, east or west. A two-sided OADM adds and drops channels on both directions of the link, and a full mux/demux handles every channel on the fiber. Confirm which architecture the deployment needs before ordering.
Which wavelengths does the SCLT-1 support?
The SCLT-1 filters one CWDM channel pair on the ITU-T G.694.2 grid. Nine selectable channel pairs are available across 1271 to 1611 nm at 20 nm channel spacing, and the pair is chosen through the product configurator at the time of order.
What housing options are available for the SCLT-1?
The SCLT-1 can be ordered in a mini-LGX housing or a standard LGX housing. Select the housing type in the product configurator along with the wavelength pair and the window port option.
Does the SCLT-1 require power?
No. The SCLT-1 is a fully passive thin film filter. It requires no power, no active electronics and no ongoing configuration or maintenance once installed.
Does the SCLT-1 work with any protocol or data rate?
Yes. As a passive optical wavelength filter, the SCLT-1 filters by wavelength, not by protocol or bit rate. It passes any signal carried on the selected channel, including Ethernet, SDH/SONET and Fibre Channel.
Does enabling the monitor port change the insertion loss?
Yes. Base insertion loss in the passband is 1.2 dB. Enabling the 1 percent monitoring port raises insertion loss to about 1.5 dB. The monitor port option is not available on the 3 shortest-wavelength channel pairs in the configuration matrix.
