MTP to 8xLC/UPC OS2 Single-Mode Breakout Cable Description
The EDGEOPTIC MTP-8LC-UPC-OS2 is a high-density MTP breakout cable designed for transitioning from multi-fiber trunk connections to individual duplex LC interfaces. This cable features MTP-12 Female (APC) on one end breaking out to 4× LC/UPC Male connectors, providing seamless connectivity between high-density MTP/MPO infrastructure and standard LC-based equipment. MTP is a registered trademark of US Conec, representing the highest quality multi-fiber connectivity.
The cable utilizes OS2 9/125μm Single-Mode (SMF) optical fiber, optimized for operation at 1310 / 1610 nm (Dual Window SMF). The fiber delivers low attenuation of 0.35 dB/km at 1310nm, and 0.18 dB/km at 1550nm, ensuring minimal signal loss across transmission distances.
The optical interface is precision-polished to achieve insertion loss of ≤0.3 dB Max (Standard) and return loss of ≥50 dB (Standard UPC), meeting or exceeding industry standards for reliable network performance. These specifications ensure consistent signal quality and minimal reflection for sensitive optical equipment.
The cable features LSZH (Low Smoke Zero Halogen) jacket material, Yellow (OS2/SMF Standard) color coding, 3 mm cable diameter. With a minimum bend radius of 7.5 nm, the cable provides flexibility for routing in confined spaces while maintaining optical performance. The cable is rated for 100 N installation tensile load and 50 N long-term tensile load, ensuring durability during installation and extended operation.
Operating temperature range spans -20°C to +70°C, with storage rated at -40°C to +85°C, making the cable suitable for controlled data center environments as well as more demanding industrial installations.
Typical applications include 40G/100G/400G transceiver connectivity, structured cabling systems, and data center interconnects where transition between MTP/MPO backbone infrastructure and LC-based equipment is required. The MTP-8LC-UPC-OS2 is available in lengths up to 50 m, accommodating various rack and row configurations.
The EDGEOPTIC MTP-8LC-UPC-OS2 is CE/RoHS certified, compliant with ISO/IEC-61754, EN 50399, and EN 50575 standards. All cables undergo comprehensive quality testing including optical parameter measurements, connector cleanliness verification, and full specification validation prior to shipment, ensuring reliable performance in production environments.
